About the Authors

Alan Ladd (1913–1964) was an award-winning American actor and film and television producer. He found cinematic success in the 1940s and 1950s, particularly in Westerns and film noir. He is especially known for his role in the movie Shane. His awards include a Picturegoer Award for Best Actor in 1947 for the movie This Gun for Hire, and in 1953 he was named Most Popular Male Star by Photoplay magazine. He contributed as an actor or producer in more than a hundred films and television shows over the course of his career.

John Baddeley is a British voice actor whose credits include many BBC radio productions, the narrator of the documentary The Death Train, and the voice of Winston Churchill in a 2003 PBS miniseries.

Tony Robinson is an actor and audiobook narrator and actor whose first professional appearance was at the age of thirteen in the original version of the stage musical Oliver!, followed by a number of shows, films, and TV appearances as a child actor. After training at the Central School of Speech and Drama, he spent several years in rep, and worked for two years as a theater director, before moving on to the Chichester Festival Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and the National Theatre. It was around this time that he made his first notable television appearance as the cerebral palsied Ernie Roberts in Horizon’s award-winning documentary Joey. Robinson came to prominence for his role as Baldrick on the BBC series Blackadder, and has been a fixture in entertainment since, hosting the long-running Time Team and the popular Worst Jobs series, and winning numerous awards as a writer of children’s television programs.
