About the Authors

Alan Ladd (1913–1964) was an award-winning American actor and film and television producer. He found cinematic success in the 1940s and 1950s, particularly in Westerns and film noir. He is especially known for his role in the movie Shane. His awards include a Picturegoer Award for Best Actor in 1947 for the movie This Gun for Hire, and in 1953 he was named Most Popular Male Star by Photoplay magazine. He contributed as an actor or producer in more than a hundred films and television shows over the course of his career.

John Baddeley is a British voice actor whose credits include many BBC radio productions, the narrator of the documentary The Death Train, and the voice of Winston Churchill in a 2003 PBS miniseries.

Jonathan Keeble, winner of four AudioFile Earphones Awards, combines his audio work with a busy theater and television career. As an Earphones Award–winning narrator, he is in high demand for his voice work. He has recorded over two hundred audiobooks.

Roger Harry Daltrey (born 1 March 1944) is an English singer and actor. Daltrey came to prominence in the mid-1960s as the founder and lead singer of iconic rock band the Who. In 2010, he was ranked as number 61 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 greatest singers of all time.

Matthew Marsh is an English actor and has appeared in the films Alambrado, Spy Game, An American Haunting, Hawking and Bad Company.

Simon Callow is an actor, director, and writer. He has appeared in many films, including Four Weddings and a Funeral. He made his stage debut in 1973 and came to prominence in a critically acclaimed performance as Mozart in the original stage production of Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus at the Royal National Theatre in 1979. He is well known for a series of one-man shows that have toured internationally and featured subjects including Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde, Shakespeare, Jesus, and Richard Wagner. His books include, among others, a highly acclaimed biography of Charles Laughton, a biographical trilogy on Orson Welles, and My Life in Pieces, which won the Sheridan Morley Prize in 2011.
