The New York Times bestselling author of The Event Group series launches a new series of paranormal thrillers just in time for Halloween. Built at the turn of the twentieth century by one of the richest and most powerful men in the world tucked away in the pristine Pocono Mountains, Summer Place, a retreat for the rich and famous, seems the very essence of charm and beauty, "a scene borrowed from a wondrous fairytale of gingerbread houses, bright forests, and glowing, sunny meadows." But behind the yellow and white trimmed exterior lurks an evil, waiting to devour the unwary... Seven years ago, Professor Gabriel Kennedy's investigation into paranormal activity at Summer Place ended in tragedy, and destroyed his career. Now, Kelly Delaphoy, the ambitious producer of a top-rated ghost-hunting television series, is determined to make Summer Place the centerpiece of an epic live broadcast on Halloween night. To ensure success, she needs help from the one man who has come face-to-face with the evil that dwells in Summer Place, a man still haunted by the ghosts of his own failure. Disgraced and alienated from the academic community, Kennedy wants nothing to do with the event. But Summer Place has other plans... As Summer Place grows stronger, Kennedy, along with the paranormal ghost hunting team, The Supernaturals, sets out to confront...and if possible, destroy...the evil presence dwelling there.

"I'm a big fan of Golemon's Event Group Series and was excited to see that he is embarking on a new series. I started the book a couple of nights ago and breezed through it. The storyline is about a college professor who takes a team of grad students to investigate a reported haunted house with an evil history. While on the investigation, tragedy strikes...a student mysteriously disappears. The professor is under suspicion but there is no evidence to bring charges. However, his reputation is ruined and he loses his position at the university. A few years later, a producer of a top-rated Ghosthunters type TV show wants to broadcast a paranormal investigation at the house ("Summer Place") live on Halloween night. In hopes of sensationalizing the story, she contacts the professor to join in the program. At first he refuses, but then he relents with the condition that he can assemble a team to take part. I don't want to give anymore of the story away...but trust me, all hell breaks loose. The multiple sub-story lines are adeptly interwoven and superbly paced. Golemon's haunted house is an eerily evil entity. At the risk of committing sacrilege, I'd rank it up there with Jackson's Hill House and King's Overlook Hotel as supreme edifices of horror. The human characters are interesting as well (especially the Professor's team), although a couple of the others are cliched (such as the backstabbing TV executive). But it all fits. Given the popularity today of the paranormal, it wouldn't surprise me to see this story transformed for the screen (large or small). It's that good. Side note for all you Golemon fans, this is by far the best edited book he has written...kudos to the publisher. This book is fascinating, suspenseful and creepy...and a perfect read as Halloween approaches! Available in e-format @ Amazon, B&N. Print version to be released on October 18th. The Supernaturals"

" I finally finished this bad boy and man was it heavy. This was a fantastic and compelling haunted house story. I loved it. The ending was a complete surprise. Even though the book was 500 pages, I never once was bored or felt like giving up and that is saying something. May write a more substantial review later. "
— Chelsea, 2/3/2014" Surprisingly good. I feel like this book could be the beginning of a series. If you're in the mood for a good ghost story read this! "
— Valerie, 1/18/2014" Awesome book!! My first ghostly book and hopefully not my last. I loved the ghost story/mystery and really enjoyed that it didn't have the gore factor. "
— Lee, 1/14/2014" I loved the idea of basing this ghost story on a very real house and leaving the reader wondering how much was based in fact and how much was based on the author's vivid imagination. I have read and enjoyed his other books but this one was a bit thrown together. I had a hard time going between the tv producer and all the politics and the professor and his merry band of parapsychology misfits. "
— Kim, 1/11/2014" Enjoyed this one, although not usually my genre. Was worth reading "
— Melissa, 1/9/2014" I love the Event Group, but was really shocked by how fast I read this book considering I've never been big on ghost stories / haunted houses. It was just entertaining the whole way through and I look forward to the next one. "
— Lovebuffalo, 1/1/2014" This book needs a good editor if there is another printing. Lots of typos! The story itself was entertaining and it was a good read despite some plot holes. "
— Karen, 12/8/2013" Quite enjoyed this one. Listened to it as an audiobook, and I must say the voice they used for the entity creeped me out nicely :) "
— Donna, 12/8/2013" Fast paced and very very good! "
— Silvia, 12/4/2013" loved this book. I hope David Golemon turns this into a series. I really enjoy the Event group series also. Now I just wish i could find out more about the house. "
— Victoria, 11/28/2013" There was too much back story involved with this book. About 3/4 of the reading was back story and everything leading up to actually going into the house to investigate. "
— Natalie, 8/24/2013" Wow..this book was perfect Halloween season reading. "
— Darlene, 8/11/2013" This was a great ghost story. I'm thinking there may be another one coming. Wasn't horribly scary - but it definitely kept me interested. "
— Su, 11/20/2012" One of the best books I've read in a long time. "
— Mary, 11/4/2012" Though there were quite a few typos thru-out the book, I blame that more on editing & personally LOVED the story & characters. "
— Sherri, 10/15/2012" I 'read' this book on my iPod ~ narrator very, very good!! Scared the crap out of me in some parts! Very good ghost story! "
— Susiebru, 9/17/2012" This was a very good, creepy, scary, ghost-y haunted house story. I wanted a book that didn't disappoint, and here it is. Ghost Hunters meets Paranormal Activity in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. You'll enjoy, I'm sure of it ;) Short and sweet, and to the point. "
— Rebecca, 8/20/2012David L. Golemon is the author of the Event Group thriller series, including Ancients, Leviathan, and Primeval. Legend, the second book in the series, was nominated for a RITA award for paranormal fiction. Golemon learned an early love of reading from his father, who told him that the written word, unlike other forms, allows readers to use their own minds, the greatest special effects machines of all—an idea Golemon still believes. The only thing he loves more than writing is research, especially historical research, and he sees the subtext of his Event Group novels as being that understanding history allows us to create a better future. Golemon grew up in Chino, California, and now makes his home in New York.
