"I listened to this book after a visit to Spain. It's a truly unique country, so different from the rest of Europe. The author captured the essence of the Spain's rich heritage contrasting the Golden Ages of Tolerance among the three major religions with the tragic demise of Spain during the eras of Intolerance. I gained renewed appreciation of the Moorish culture centered in Adalucia. Moorish architecture during its richest times created two of the great manmade wonders of the Western World--Cordoba and Granada. Toledo with its long-enduring Christian heritage was not to be outdone. In short I loved "The Ornament of the World" a perfect title describing this amazing country."

A resonant and timely case study . . . [an] unusually graceful study, a sturdy and eminently readable exploration of the 'unknown depths of cultural tolerance and symbiosis in our heritage' that may help revise our view of the Middle Ages.
