"Bound and shackled by legalists' lists of do's and don'ts, intimidated and immobilized by others' demands and expectations, far too many in God's family merely exist in the tight radius of bondage, dictated by those who have appointed themselves our judge and jury."—Chuck Swindoll [from Introduction]
The Grace Awakening calls all Christians to wake up and reject living in such legalistic, performance-oriented bondage. The God of the universe has given us an amazing, revolutionary gift of grace and freedom. This freedom and grace set us apart from every other "religion" on the face of the earth.
In this best-selling classic, Charles Swindoll urges us not to miss living a grace-filled life. Freedom and joy—not lists and demands and duties—await all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
With his characteristic style and gentle authority, Swindoll disarms the counter-attack of those who do not preach grace-filled living and claim that focusing on grace would fill our churches with wild, undisciplined people with no godliness in evidence. Yes, Swindoll says, teaching and preaching grace is risky. Some may push the limits and misuse their freedom. But grace is the message of the gospel . . . the good news of salvation. As Christians, we sing about God's amazing grace. We understand that we are saved by grace. Let's learn to live by grace! Discover how in The Grace Awakening.

Charles R. Swindoll has devoted over four decades to two passions: an unwavering commitment to the practical communication and application of God’s Word and an untiring devotion to seeing lives transformed by God’s grace. He graduated magna cum laude from Dallas Theological Seminary and has since been honored with four doctorates. For his teaching on Insight for Living, he has received the Program of the Year award and the Hall of Fame award from the National Religious Broadcasters, as well as multiple book awards. He and his wife of over half a century, Cynthia, live in Texas.
Maurice England moved to the Chicago area in the fall of 2006, after a twelve year run as a long-haul trucker, to continue the cultivation of his lifelong interest in the expressive arts and oral interpretation. A veteran audiophile, Maurice listened to well over one thousand audiobooks while on the road and fell in love with the genre. From his past experience in broadcasting, community theater, music performance, and ministry he saw narrating as a means to merge his love for books, ideas, learning, and spiritual evolution with his interest in artistic expression. While his narration experience has primarily been nonfiction, personal development, and spiritual-growth titles, Maurice anticipates using his authentically warm and folksy southern style to entertain and inspire through storytelling. Inspired most by the behind-the-scenes artists who engineer, direct, edit, and master the audiobook productions we hear, Maurice has become an absorbed student and participant in the process.
