Gerald Wilkins never considered himself a particularly exceptional thirteen-year-old. But that was before he inherited twenty billion pounds, a Caribbean island, a yacht, and three estates from a great-aunt he never knew. With this fortune, however, comes a letter. One from his great-aunt Geraldine. One that tells Gerald that she was murdered, and that it's up to him to find out why.
Along with his friends Ruby and Sam, Gerald embarks on a journey that will lead him from the British Museum to dodgy social clubs for the disgustingly rich to mansions in the English countryside to secret places far underground. Who was Geraldine Archer? And what secrets was she hiding? Unless Gerald, Sam, and Ruby can find out before the killer does, they may be next.

"A really good suspense novel for Tweens and teens. Even as an adult, I really enjoyed it. Not too gory, not to scary, definitely a quick and fun read. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series"
— Lisa (4 out of 5 stars)
“There’s no letup in the pacing, and all the tried-and-true mystery elements add up to an Anthony Horowitz–style romp.”
— Kirkus Reviews“Richard Newsome’s just-debuted adventure series tracks a resourceful Australian boy and his friends as they span the globe, searching for the keys to a dangerous mystery. A new series to watch.”
— Barnes & Noble, editorial review“The brisk pacing and easy camaraderie between Gerald, Ruby, and Sam should ensure that young readers have a blast.”
— Publishers Weekly" This book was an alright novel. The reviews say it is action-packed, but I'm not sure if I can agree. I thought the events ended to short and the problems could of escalated better. Altogether it was an average book. "
— Gemma, 2/18/2014" A kid with horrible Dursley-like parents inherits a billionaire's fortune and with it the request that he find the person who killed his great aunt. This is the first in a series so, while the murder mystery is solved, several questions and villians are left hanging--sure to return in the sequel. Our main character lucks into a pair of boy/girl twins who become his fast friends and sleuths-in-arms, also adding comic squabbles and character traits to the story. A fun, quick read. "
— Angela, 2/13/2014" I love the writing style and the mystery aspect of this book, but there are still some younger aspects to it, reminding me a bit of the Percy Jackson series "
— Sarah, 2/10/2014" needed something light to read, check. "
— Sara, 2/6/2014" Nice book for young of heart. I enjoyed it. "
— Charlie, 12/26/2013" I loved how this started out, but then coincidences started piling up. I didn't mind too much and would probably read more in the series. Fans of Eoin Colfer fans will probably enjoy this one. "
— Tracie, 11/19/2013" This book is amazing! Everyone should read it. "
— Aylaryan, 10/14/2013" If you like 39 Clues, you will like this series. Fast pace, good suspense, a good guy always shows up just in time. "
— Susan, 8/29/2013" i loved the conflict of the book and how their where no hints to the guilty person. you can tell how well the author did his research "
— Deb, 8/21/2013" Free Friday selection from B & N; I like YA lit all right, although some of it is definitely better than others. I liked that this story was a mystery, that kept it far more interesting than I think it otherwise would have been. "
— Morgan, 7/25/2013" Kept moving. I like that. Some rather convenient circumstances, but I was having fun, so I shrugged and kept going. I like the three kids. Learned something as well about history. "
— Kathleen, 5/25/2013" Fun story, but peppered with some language that doesn't do anything for the story. "
— Jeanette, 4/8/2013" A lot like 39 Clues but still good. No evil family members in this one. Just evil people who want the billion dollar fortune of the middle school kid who has just inherited his unknown great aunt's estate but thinks she might have been murdered. You know. Typical stuff. "
— Kerri, 12/12/2012" Awesome! But not very well known. First in a Trilogy. the second one is called 'The Emerald Casket.' "
— Katrine, 9/20/2012" it was a fun adventure and vary well written "
— Sarah, 9/17/2012" This is a bit of an "easy" book. It's written for young adults, and some parts of it are clearly a little unrealistic. However it was cute and sometimes I need a break from the heavy, so I'd reccomend this. If you are into history and puzzles (think National Treasure-ish) then you can enjoy this. "
— Brittany, 5/4/2012" This book is epic! I would definitely recommend it. "
— Kyle, 3/7/2012" This book is great and i would recommend this book to everyone. This is a book which i think is good for ages 10-25 mabe even older. "

— Lauren, 4/25/2011" A lot like 39 Clues but still good. No evil family members in this one. Just evil people who want the billion dollar fortune of the middle school kid who has just inherited his unknown great aunt's estate but thinks she might have been murdered. You know. Typical stuff. "
— Kerri, 4/20/2011" this book is a great read for any one from the age of 8+ who is looking for a great mystery book. "

— Olivia, 3/1/2011" This was an interesting book. You didn't know who the bad person was until close to the end of the book. I am looking forward to reading the sequel. "
— Debbie, 2/27/2011" Easily recommended fun read for upper primary. "
— Pam, 2/16/2011" Started out strong, but the villains were two-dimensional, there were too many coincidences, and by the end it seemed a bit too Harry Potter-influenced. Still, I could see boys who like action-adventure novels enjoying this. "
— Lyddie, 12/19/2010" Fun story, but peppered with some language that doesn't do anything for the story. "
— Jeanette, 12/2/2010" im half way through this book and im lovin it i dont want it to end "
