It’s New Year’s Eve and the last thing Spid wants to do is celebrate. Now Spidmas is over, he feels unloved and unappreciated. But just as Spid is thinking he’ll never make anything of himself, Bid comes up with an idea that changes everything.
This adventure is about recognising and taking charge of your feelings. And inspiring resolutions for the year ahead. It features two songs: 'New Year Ensemble' and 'Sheen Neean Kwai Luh (Xin Nian Kuai Le)' which is Chinese for Happy New Year. You can also find music videos of the songs at https://spidthespider.com and https://www.youtube.com/spidthespider. Spid is a lowly spider, who wants to better himself, write songs, and marry his girlfriend Bid, though he is prone to hilarious mishaps mostly of his own making. He is hard-working, cool, and a role model for young children. As well as encouraging children to read and love books, Spid's adventures also teach valuable life lessons, including determination and what psychologists call a 'growth mindset' (desire to better oneself and succeed), the importance of friendship, and sustainability. With very creative prose, Spid's adventures are fun for parents, and teachers to read to, and with, their children. They present lots of opportunities to invest dramatic licence thus helping adults and children interact and engage. The humour works at multiple levels from silly and slapstick to more sophisticated wordplay and concepts. Thus, children will discover more and enjoy reading the stories multiple times. "My favourite part of the story is the presents that Spid got for his friends and family which match their hobbies and personalities perfectly. Herman would get a bird feeder to keep the crows away, Cleverly Evaleigh would get a book as she’s very clever and Spiddyman outfits for Stidley and Ridley! I also love the unusual snacks that Spid the spider likes to each which sounds yucky and hilarious. Spid loves a moth latte, crunchy cricket sandwiches, grasshopper granola, an insect roast, butterfly biscuits, minced-fly pies, spider cider and mosquito dessert! Why I rated it 5 stars: I have to admit ‘Spid the spider’ audio's are some of my favourite children’s bed time listening! (Spid the spider gets spooked at Halloween, Spid the spider helps out at Christmas and Spid the spider welcomes in the new year). They have everything you’d want in a story for my children including animals, a theme, problems & solutions, humour both for children and adults, a variety of characters, interesting facts as well! In this Spid story, the characters are Father Spidmas, Dollop the reindeer, Spid’s girlfriend Bid, Pistachio, Nutty and more! A perfect story for December or all year round! An amazing addition is ‘A far away spidmas wish’ and ‘Spidmas day’ songs which you can listen to as the story grows! I’m sure children will love the change of words as did I, that the narrator has cleverly put his own spin on - Spundays, spidtastic, spidnight and spidmas. Excellent fun to read to, or with my children!https://audiobookstore.com/audiobooks/spid-the-spider-welcomes-in-the-new-year.aspx#"
