“Great talent, great imagination, and real been-there done-that authenticity.”
—Lee Child
“Not since Fleming charged Bond with the safety of the world has the international secret agent mystique been so anchored with an insider’s reality.”
—Noah Boyd, author of The Bricklayer and Agent X
Matthew Dunn knows his spycraft—and he proves it once again in Sentinel, his second electrifying Spycatcher novel. A former British M16 field officer trained in all aspects of intelligence collection, small-arms and explosives, military unarmed combat, and more, Dunn has an addition talent most other spies lack: he can really write! In Sentinel, Dunn brings back Agent Will Cochrane—whom Kirkus Reviews calls, “a Nietzschean hero who looks poised to give Lee Child’s Jack Reacher a run for his readers”—and sends him to Avacha Bay in eastern Russia, where he must infiltrate a top-secret submarine base, decode a cryptic message from a deep undercover operative, and quite possibly prevent a devastating war. Espionage fiction fans who regularly devour the works of Daniel Silva, Robert Ludlum, Alex Berenson, Ted Bell, Brad Thor, Vince Flynn, and Barry Eisler will discover there’s a new ace on the international thriller scene.

"I LOVED this book!! A lot of twists and unexpected things to say the least. I enjoyed the writing though there were times where I felt as If things or events were hurried and not expounded on. I would highly recommend."

“Great talent, great imagination, and real been-there, done-that authenticity…Highly recommended.”
— Lee Child“Not since Fleming charged Bond with the safety of the world has the international secret agent mystique been so anchored with an insider’s reality.”
— Noah Boyd, New York Times bestselling author“Dunn delivers insights into a world most of us will never experience—except between the covers of a book, or maybe someday in a movie as good as the best of the Bond and Bourne sagas.”
— Oakland Tribune“As in Spycatcher, Dunn’s action scenes are vividly drawn. Lovers of derring-do will love this series.”
— Booklist" Set in a modern-day "cold war" Sentinel takes place in Russia and eastern Europe as CIA/MI6 agents rush to find who is killing their double agents -- a man who wants to start the nuclear war to end all wars. I am not a big fan of nuclear war novels, but found myself drawn into the single life of Will and his mission. A compassionate, yet well-trained MI6 agent, Will seeks out his captured friend to help resolve the impending war. Filled with travels throughout Europe and Russia, Sentinel is a good read for a long winter night. My one complaint with the author was his bouncing back and forth between metric and US scales, most particularly MPH/KPH. Being set in Eastern Europe and Russia, I would stick with the metric conversion. All in all, I recommend it if you don't mind a lot of killing and some visual gore. "
— Mark, 2/19/2014" Great spy thriller. Intertwining plots with fascinating characters combined with mind-numbing action and intrigue in world where everything and everyone aren't what they appear to be. Quite the page turner. "
— Larry, 2/15/2014" a wonderful 4 stars for me! "
— Annie, 1/25/2014" Not as good Ludlum but passable. Interesting story line but a bit predictable and too heavy and repitive on the technical descriptions. "
— Terry, 1/6/2014" Not quite as good as a Vince Flynn or Brad Thor novel, but fans of spy thrillers may enjoy this read all the same. "
— Michelle, 12/30/2013" A little predictable as far as mystery/espionage books, and Dunn has a tendency to give too many unnecessary details in his descriptions. Still enjoyable overall, and I will read the next Will Cochrine story in the series. "
— Mike, 12/17/2013" A bit formulaic, but shows clear evidence of the author's thorough knowledge of his subject matter. The prose isn't pretty in places, but if you're looking for a quick, entertaining read, then this would fit the bill. "
— Anna, 11/30/2013" I really love it! I'd have to say it was one of the best spy novels I've ever read. Action packed! A must read for all spy novel lovers. "
— Kayla, 11/28/2013" Straight up action, fast paced, pure adrenaline. "
— Giovanni, 7/23/2013" There is such an incredibly extreme body count throughout that this reader preferred to skip to the end rather than endure endless torture and butchering.Even the not surprising plot twist can't save this. 1 of 10 stars "
— Tim, 7/22/2013" #2 in the Spycatcher series. Lots of time spent on following people. Super spy manages to get almost everyone brutally killed. "
— Steve, 7/9/2013" I hope to find more book by Dunn. "
— Jim, 3/16/2013" I really loved this book!!!! It was one of the best spy novels I have ever read, you must read Sentinel if you enjoy action and suspense. "
— Greta, 12/1/2012Matthew Dunn, as an MI6 field officer, recruited and ran agents, coordinated and participated in special operations, and acted in deep-cover roles throughout the world. He operated in highly hostile environments, where if compromised and captured, he would have been executed. Dunn was trained in all aspects of intelligence collection, deep-cover deployments, small-arms, explosives, military unarmed combat, surveillance, and infiltration. Medals are never awarded to modern MI6 officers, but Dunn was the recipient of a very rare personal commendation from the secretary of state for foreign and commonwealth affairs for work he did on one mission, which was deemed so significant that it directly influenced the successful conclusion of a major international incident. During his time in MI6, Dunn conducted approximately seventy missions. All of them were successful. He lives in England.
