Quotes

  • This top-notch offering features genuine humor, clever writing, a surprise ending and a strong portrayal of evil’s power that doesn’t succumb to clichéd violence.

    — Publishers Weekly
  • “Narrator Henry Strozier does an excellent job of bringing each character to life. He has an actor's skill in capturing accents and all manner of vocal nuances without slipping into caricature. He preserves the dignity of his characters even as their follies are revealed. Although murders take place as the road controversy goes on, the story is primarily a novel of a people and a place and the democratic process.”

" This book was easy to read, but it jumped characters frequently and I thought the book was drawn out. The storyline was interesting and I liked the ending. "

" Couldn't finish it! This was definitely a "Book to Nowhere". Read about half way through and couldn't make myself read any further. Plot was uninteresting and it jumped too often between many characters. I was waiting for the acclaimed "suspenseful novel" to start. It just wasn't happening. "
