"The only book I've ever read from L'Amour told by a girl. He manages to do a good job, which was very gratifying. I was starting to worry that he couldn't write female characters, and that he thought all women were squeamish when it came to bloodshed. Good to see Echo had her head on straight."

" Interesting twist on the Sackett family - having the story from the point of view of a Sackett woman versus a man. I enjoyed the change of perspective. "
— Jared, 2/12/2014" This here is what a woman should be. "
— Ellen, 2/12/2014" I enjoyed it after the Louis L'Amour tradition but was disgruntled by what seemed to be a "lesser educated" Sackett. It was a disappointing change from the standard L'Amour had set already for the Sacketts. "
— Jen, 1/27/2014" the book i was named after. good book. "
— Echo, 1/24/2014" Chronicles events in the young (and fictional) Echo Sackett's life as she travels to Pennsylvania to retrieve an inheritance. There she meets Dorian Chantry, who she will later wed. The next time we hear of her is when she is an old woman, husband dead, in a fight for her life and property, aided by Logan Sackett. It's interesting seeing how the Sackett family members, across years of history, tie in together in different ways in L'Amour's imagination. "
— Greg, 1/15/2014" Siteen year-old Echo Sacket has never been far from home until she takes a trip to Philidelpha to collect a much needed inheritance. Lawwyer James White thinks that she is a simple country girl and sets out to cheat her. He is even willing to commit murder. "
— Fredrick, 1/7/2014" This book teaches you how to be careful. It could be interesting to certain people but is not my kind of book. "
— Allison, 12/21/2013" Probably most folks know of L'Amour's favorite fictional family, the Sacketts. I really liked most of the Sackett books, but while this one was OK, it wasn't up to the best in the series. It features the female character, Echo Sackett, and it seemed at times a little gimmicky to me. "
— Charles, 12/17/2013" This was not the greatest. I think I like the young Sacketts better. "
— Cindy, 12/14/2013" This is my favorite book of the Sackett series by L'Amour. I suspect that the fact that I was a young girl when I read it had something to do with it... I wanted to be as cool as Echo was. "
— Michelle, 12/5/2013" Echo Sackett is quite a girl. I am really liking L'Amour's family of adventurers, pioneers, whatever, and their journeying through American history. "
— Kathy, 12/5/2013" Ride the river is about girl power...so guys if you don't like the idea of girls being strong, don't read this "
— Elizabeth, 12/1/2013" Like the way he adds fictional history to his books. "
— Peter, 11/29/2013" My grandpa loves Louis L'Amour and wanted me to read this book. It was light and perfectly harmless but not my style at all. I gave it a shot. "
— Cate, 11/28/2013" This is one of the better ones- Echo is a cool chick... "
— Liam, 1/12/2013" I love this book. I first read it in the eighth grade when I decided to read every L'amour book that our Middle School library owned. This is the one that I still remember. It was one of few that showcased a woman being as tough as the men. "
— Jen, 12/11/2012" A lifeless five hour chase scene (I listened to the audio version). The only redeeming quality is that it has a strong female lead character. "
— Jason, 10/4/2012" Read most of Louis Lamour's books when I was in my late teens and early twenties. They are important to me as they were some of the first books that got me into the reading habit. For that I shall be forever grateful "
— Michael, 5/12/2012" I just love the main character Echo Sackett. "
— Are, 10/27/2011" Another fun Sackett read from LAmour. And a female Sackett at that! Always a good read. "
— David, 8/16/2011" I really like this series, probably one of my favorite series of any genre. "
— Jody, 8/8/2011" This book is about me. I was Echo Sackett in a past life. Read it. If you know me, you will know it is true! "
— Terrie, 4/11/2011" It is one of a few L'Amour girl novels. He shows that there are strong women as well as men in the world with a good head on their shoulders. "
— Wendy, 1/13/2011" I really enjoyed this book. Another in the "Sackett" series the twist here is the lead character being female. Truly rare in Lamour's works, he does a good job. She is definitely a Sackett, and yet still a woman. "
— Craig, 12/15/2010" This is one of the better ones- Echo is a cool chick... "
