In the tradition of Ira Levin’s A Kiss Before Dying and Donna Tartt’s The Secret History comes a suspenseful thriller from the international bestselling author of The Bronze Horseman—an utterly captivating story about four Ivy League students whose bizarre friendship leads to a twisted maze of secrets, lies, betrayal, and murder.
As the star player of Dartmouth College’s women’s basketball team, Kristina Kim is beautiful, intelligent, and fearless. But though she’s just 21, Kristina has already had her share of heartache, loss, and dark secrets that haunt her. She’s best friends with Conni, Albert, and Jim, but the only one who seems to really know her is Albert. With long dark hair, tattoos, and a rebellious streak, Albert doesn’t fit in with the rest of the clean-cut Ivy Leaguers. Like Kristina, he has his share of secrets—secrets that are beginning to unravel this intimate circle of friends.
One wintry Thanksgiving weekend tragedy strikes...
When Detective Spencer O’Malley goes to investigate something suspicious at the foot of a steep hill on Dartmouth’s campus, he doesn’t expect that the frozen, naked body found in deep snow would belong to Kristina Kim—the remarkable young woman he met recently who entranced him. Now Spencer will never know if the chemistry he had with her was real. All he can do is find her killer.
Spencer is pulled into the strange, complex web of the surviving friends. Many important questions about Kristina’s murder cannot be answered, such as: why did none of them report her missing for nine days before her body was discovered? The more Spencer digs, the more clear it becomes that each of the three has a motive for killing Kristina. And as Spencer, seeking justice for a dead girl, is led down a labyrinth of deceit, every new revelation proves more shocking than the last….and more dangerous.

"Somewhere between 3-4 stars. This was written by the author of my all time favorite book, The Bronze Horseman. I was impressed to see that she is capable of writing in a completely different style than the TBH trilogy. Red leaves is a whodunit murder mystery about a 21 year old girl with a close knit group of friends who all have motive for her death. Not only does this book focus on the murder but Simons focuses a lot on the characters and human nature. This wasn't my favorite book but it was an interesting one. There is an incestuous little twist but not QUITE as bad as you are first led to believe. An interesting ending...one to think over. To conservative readers there is a little bit of language and sexuality. Not as bad as her other books."

“A haunting page-turner.”
— Los Angeles Times“A wondeful mystery-suspense story with marvelous twists and turns that keep you guessing—and turning pages—right to the very end.”
— Detroit Free Press“Simons’ characterizations are excellent, and she quickly draws the reader deeply into the nuances of the story. Highly recommended.”
— Library Journal" Load of incestious shit! The backwards/forwards dialogue especially at the beginning would be good enough to drive people to violence against the author. Worth recycling for toilet paper. "
— Hairy, 2/17/2014" Enjoyed yet Another book by Paulina Simmons "
— Kathy, 1/31/2014" I loved this book just as I enjoy everything by Paullina Simons. She is an amazing writer. I am hunting down her other stuff on Amazon.com so I can read everything she wrote and patiently waiting for her new release in February. "

— Sashi, 12/13/2013" This was a great book that kept me hanging in till the end. "
— Jodie, 11/20/2013" Light holiday read; free with a Sunday paper. Pity I wasn't on holiday. A book in two parts, and the second part is more interesting but less believable. "
— Sunflower, 11/9/2013" Excellent read. I really enjoyed Tully so I went looking for more Paullina Simons "
— Rosalind, 11/8/2013" Somewhat unworthy yet enjoyable thriller about a bunch of jealous and incestuous (in the original sense of the word) university students and the world weary cop who unravels their secrets. "
— Saya, 10/29/2013" I liked this book. It was a little dark, and usually that is not my type of book. But, for me, it was compelling that I find out how it ended. It is not a quick read, but I had a hard time putting it down. "
— Sandy, 10/12/2013" enjoyed this story - much much better than tully "

— Hayley, 1/13/2013" This is one of the best contemporary books I've ever read (I usually prefer reading old classics). It's full of suspense, and also beautifully heartbreaking. I couldn't put this book down, and there are parts of it I keep re-reading. It's beautifully written. "
— Dimples88, 12/21/2012" I read The Girl in Time Square first and it's one of my favourite books...this book however was a bit slow and I had a hard time getting into it. "

— Heather, 1/31/2012" This book was recommended to me by a friend/co-worker. The story is interesting and compelling even if the writing is stilted at some points. The tone reminded me of Donna Tartt's "The Secret History", but I don't think "Red Leaves" will stay with me the same way "History" has. "
— Tracy, 8/4/2011" Great, will read it again one day "

— Kristin, 4/8/2011" I liked this book. It was a little dark, and usually that is not my type of book. But, for me, it was compelling that I find out how it ended. It is not a quick read, but I had a hard time putting it down. "
— Sandy, 3/11/2011" I read The Girl in Time Square first and it's one of my favourite books...this book however was a bit slow and I had a hard time getting into it. "
— Megan, 1/24/2011" This was ok. I liked it but found it too long and bits of it uninteresting. 6/10 "
— Jirinka, 9/23/2010" Paullina never disappoints me... i didnt see the ending coming and I loved it "
— Katelyn, 7/27/2010" enjoyed this story - much much better than tully "
— Kirsty, 6/13/2010" Surpisingly, I can't get into this. Most of the reviews say the first half is tedious, and the second half actually makes the book. I just don't think I want to endure 200 pages of being bored to get to the meat. Going to put it aside for now. "
