In a cave in the Shenandoah National Park, two bodies are discovered, wrapped in the tattered remains of a lover's knot quilt. In Washington, DC, Isaac Taylor inherits a nearly identical quilt from a grandmother whose name he never even knew.
After narrowly escaping death, newspaper journalist Kendra Taylor retreats to a cabin nestled in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley to heal and sort out her feelings about her troubled marriage. As she is welcomed into the rural community of Toms Brook, Kendra becomes curious about an heirloom lover's knot quilt, which is another piece of Isaac's unexplored past. The unusual quilt clearly has a story to tell, and Kendra is convinced that helping her husband connect with his roots might help him reconnect with her, as well.

"The third book in Emile Richards' Shenandoah Album series is called Lover's Knot. It is set in the same town as the others and Helen, Sam and Elisa make appearances. A quilt is at the center of the plot. This story is about Kendra an invstigative reporter for the Washington Post who is shot one night in the city and comes out to a home her husband inherited to recover. Her body needs healing and so does her marriage. A quilt her husband inherited leads her on a search for his roots. She learns that it is our relationships with people that make our lives worth living; not our jobs or our toys. The best part of the book was the post-script--there is at least one more book in the series. I'm off to try to find it!"

“Richards has a pure and clear narrative voice, and this is a dazzling display of her skill with plotting. It’s rather like a prose representation of a quilt: colors and textures are pieced together with precision, with hidden layers of meaning beneath.”
— RT Book Reviews" Romance novel set in the area around Skyline Drive. "
— Susan, 2/12/2014" Excellent novel about life and its complications "
— Margaret, 2/8/2014" The more books I read by Emilie Richards, the more I like. This is a good story. I loved the way family history was weaved through the story line. "
— Lkaehall, 2/2/2014" Lover's Knot was awesome! It has mystery, love, reality, heartwarming friendships, and so many other things. You just have to keep in mind this is not an LDS author. "
— Ginny, 1/17/2014" quilt based story "
— Phyllis, 1/6/2014" Very good book. It was the third book in the Shenandoah Album series. This book is about Kendra and Isaac Taylor. They inherited an old cabin of Leah's, Isaac's grandmother. They research her life. So good. "
— Vikki, 1/6/2014" I liked it. It was a simple read, perfect for bedtime because if the plot is too intriguing I don't turn out the light when I should! It wasn't too predictable, and the characters were an interesting blend. "
— Pamela, 12/30/2013" This is the second time I have read this book. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it. Lover's Knot is a quilting stitch. This book has sweet romance, forgivness, understandin ones self and a great family mystery. "
— Dee, 12/26/2013" Usually this is the kind of book I avoid reading. Tragedy strikes & the character is wealthy enough to walk away from her life to heal. Surprisingly I ended up enjoying the twists and turns that the author provides in this story. "
— Rebecca, 12/25/2013" Light reading. I'm not clambering to read more of her books. "
— Anne, 12/12/2013" Very enjoyable, good story but a little slow. "
— A.T., 12/4/2013" Interesting way of presenting that your past definitely influences what you are today but need not define what you become. "
— Manju, 11/23/2013" This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't put it down. Kept me up one night so I could finish it. Incredible read!!!!! "
— Lori, 11/3/2012" I was initially attracted to the picture of the quilt on the cover. And even though the quilt had a part in the book, it was more about a family history, as well as the repairing of a marriage that is hanging by a thread. "
— Barbara, 9/22/2012" This is a book that, from the description, I did not expect to like. Instead, I could not put it down and loved every second of it. Will look for more in the series and by this author. "
— Angel, 9/2/2012" Wonderful book. Loved the history and the quilt tie-in didn't seem contrived at all. I really enjoy how Emilie Richards ties social issues in with her stories. It makes the stories intense, but a really great read. "
— Holly's, 8/25/2012" Great series! Love them! "
— Brooke, 5/17/2012" No way profound, but fun reading about the history of Shenandoah National Park. "
— Marsha, 4/22/2012" A bad reader strikes again. She read so fast & ran her words together until I couldn't catch heads or tails to the book. Very disappointing. This is the 2nd book in this series I haven't been able to get through. "
— Odetta, 2/26/2012" Kept me guessing (I was mostly wrong), geuinely likeable characters, wonderful history, and hilarious animals (Dusty the Rug and Ten the Psychopath)...can't wait to read the rest of the series. Thanks to my Mom for recommending this book and not telling me what it was about! "
— Carrie, 12/7/2011" I really appreciated that this book talked about a married couple that learned to work through some difficulties in their marriage following a horrible event. It was really fun to read and figure out the mystery of the Lover's Knot quilt. Fun to read "
— Laurie, 8/17/2011" Just started reading this book and I like it so far. "
— Janet, 4/17/2011" The back story of this book is the beginning of Shannadoah National Park and the removal of people living in those mountains for generations. "
— Mary, 10/29/2010" Nice easy read. Enjoy this author. Good poolside book "
— Natalie, 11/30/2009" Three and a half stars. Review to come. "
