"It's rare to find in equal parts a book and movie that are as good separately as The Princess Bride. I saw the movie first many, many years ago. It has been my absolute favorite of all times and I can honestly say that this book equally matches the greatness that I found in watching the film. The book is well done and so funny. I've never read a book that has me guffawing out loud so much that it had the people in my household look and wonder if my sanity was still in tact. This book is nostalgia. It is the quote always stuck on the tip of my tongue whenever I think how inconceivable it would be to never have read The Princess Bride."

“The characters are imaginative and likeable, while the plot keeps the pages turning.”
— CBA Retailers“Gist does it again with a superb cast of characters. She is a master at weaving together her trademark independent heroine, entertaining action based on historical events and love that melts your heart. Her latest project will certainly keep her fans longing for more.”
— Romantic Times" Love the structure of this book, the meta-narrative technique as though this is a translation of an old work. I also really like the extended flashbacks to delve into the back-stories of the various characters. "
— William, 2/19/2014" A rare case where the movie is better than the book, but the book's not all bad. "
— Toni, 2/18/2014" Great family read aloud. A must read. "
— Trish, 2/8/2014" This sat on my bookshelf for years but I just could never bring myself to read it. It couldn't possibly be as good as the movie could it (certainly an odd thing to say about a book, I know)? I was wrong. The only issue I had was trying to divorce my view of Prince Humperdink from the movie as he's quite different in the book :). "
— Daryl, 1/30/2014" This is one of my favorite books of all time. I have loved the movie since I was a kid and the book itself is so playful and funny. If you love the movie, even if you don't, I would highly recommend the book. "
— Sharla, 1/11/2014" Favorite movie ever...great book too! "
— Christopher, 1/8/2014" One of my five all-time favourite books. It cannot be better. "
— Pieter, 1/7/2014" Inconceivably humorous :) "
— Athos, 12/28/2013" Did you love the movie? The book's even better. Go. "
— Fanny, 12/20/2013" Brilliant and great dialogue "
— Denise, 12/19/2013" Did not think it was great. Did like the idea of abridging Morgenstern, but the actual fairytale was not great. I especially hated the torture scene. "
— Rozemarijn, 11/8/2013" Fencing. Fighting. Torture. Poison. True love. Hate. Revenge. Giants. Hunters. Bad men. Good men. Beautifulest ladies. Snakes. Spiders. Beats of all natures and descriptions. Pain. Death. Brave men. Coward men. Strongest men. Chases. Escapes. Lies. Truths. Passion. Miracles. "
— Odhran, 10/11/2013" Sadly not as good as the movie, blasphemy I know "
— Nikki, 9/2/2013" I really enjoyed this. I've been a fan of the movie for years (thanks to my husband for introducing it to me), but I loved the backstories of Inigo and Fezzik in this book that you don't get to see in the movie. "
— Kim, 8/26/2013" Would have been 4 stars if I didn't see the movie first. The film is absolutley one of my favorites - could watch it over and over! "
— Emma, 3/23/2013" One of my favorite books of all time!! "
— Bill-mel, 3/12/2013" I don't think I've ever said this about any other book before, but the movie was SO much better. The story itself was good, but I found the author's added comments to be a bit tedious and annoying. "
