Except for the one time she didn't: when she fell headlong for handsome cowboy Jared McCallister, a man she couldn't have.
After it ended suddenly, Delaney threw herself into her work with a fury and intensity calculated to erase every other thought from her mind. And she promised that she'd never let any man touch her so deeply again. Ever.
But when Delaney finds herself in Jared's hometown of Aspen, Colorado, on a dangerous job, she begins to wonder if she is strong enough to refuse him a second time...

"I loved the way he started this book - with the fable... I found parallels to the Bible story. There are so many inspiring quotable line. I liked this one best: `Learning is finding out what you already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know just as well as you. You are all learners, doers, and teachers'. Maybe bcos I'm a teacher? But I always loved that line. Even befor I became a teacher :)"

— Knoxville (TN) News-Sentinel" There was a point in my life when this book profoundly influenced the way I thought about about my place in the universe. I was, however, only a teenager. I'm not sure how it would hold up 20 years later, but I'm also not sure I can dis-entangle some of Bach's thoughts from my currently held beliefs. "
— Angela, 2/6/2014" I was given this book as a gift from a very good friend, so it has a good deal of sentimentality attached. Otherwise, I enjoy it. "
— Moira, 2/3/2014" Pairs nicely with The Alchemist and The Celestine Prophecy...gives an interesting take on contemporary thought regarding the second coming of a messiah and what that could look like today. "

— Juan, 1/21/2014" I liked the little pearls of wisdom the character found when he opened his book randomly, but the book itself annoyed me immensely. It was very flippant about how much control we have over our lives, to the point of dismissing what is there as not being there. Yeah, I wish. "
— Elby, 1/21/2014" Loved this when I read in high school and recall spending quite a bit of time rehashing the read. Struck major chords for me on life and reality. "

— Emmanuel, 1/1/2014" Taught me it was ok to be a reluctant messiah. "
— William, 12/20/2013" The writing style was fairly dated, and the hippie undertones can get eye-rollingly cheesy, but I found the ideas explored in this book quite thought-provoking. "

— Katie, 8/21/2013" What a pile of shallow, self-indulgent semi-philosophical crap. "
— Terran, 6/27/2013" OK, maybe the book isn't amazing, but it changed my life. I've used it's quotes for over 20 years since I read the book. I give it to graduating high school seniors - especially those with minds that remain "in the box". "
