"A Game of Thrones is defenitely not an easy read, but it's more than worth it. Not much flashing magic in this book, but even as a sword and sorcery fan this book is fantastic. One cannot label the characters in good and evil, each is simply... human, with good attitudes and bad ones. The characters are continually being developed. And I had to change my mind about quite a few of them. Fantastic book!"

" I stopped watching the series to read the books and I am not disappointed. HBO has done a marvelous job with the TV adaptation but reading the books allows you to capture more detail and really understand the depth of the characters. Highly recommend the series. "

" I'm always reluctant to jump into trendy series, but I'm glad I decided to give this one a whirl. Really enjoyed the character development and plot line and I'm looking forward to continuing the series. "

" I watched the HBO season first so I already knew what to expect for the most part. The HBO series did a great job capturing each character. The book was great and a pretty quick read. The chapters are interesting and change from character to character, told from their point of view. "

" First I did some binge watching of season one and then read the book. Thoroughly enjoyable, but since I had just seen the series it followed the book so closely, was a touch repetitive. Now on to season two! "

" Excellent novel. Fully of gritty realism and EXCELLENT characterizations. Each individual is fully developed and realized. The motivations for each character and nation make sense. Well-written, well-plotted, well-done. "

" My first experience with George R. R. Martin and most definitely not the last. His storytelling style in AGoT is unlike any other fantasy prose I've read before. A must read for anyone into fantasy, kings and queens, medieval times, and some magic! "

" Martin is in no hurry to tell his tale, but I still enjoyed it. He certainly created his societies, which seem to advance as slowly as the plot. I tried watching the first two episodes created by HBO, and was unimpressed. I may take the next book on, but not sure. "
