" I stopped watching the series to read the books and I am not disappointed. HBO has done a marvelous job with the TV adaptation but reading the books allows you to capture more detail and really understand the depth of the characters. Highly recommend the series. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Sheri | 2/19/2014

" I'm always reluctant to jump into trendy series, but I'm glad I decided to give this one a whirl. Really enjoyed the character development and plot line and I'm looking forward to continuing the series. "

" A Game of Thrones is defenitely not an easy read, but it's more than worth it. Not much flashing magic in this book, but even as a sword and sorcery fan this book is fantastic. One cannot label the characters in good and evil, each is simply... human, with good attitudes and bad ones. The characters are continually being developed. And I had to change my mind about quite a few of them. Fantastic book! "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Evan Rednour | 2/16/2014

" I watched the HBO season first so I already knew what to expect for the most part. The HBO series did a great job capturing each character. The book was great and a pretty quick read. The chapters are interesting and change from character to character, told from their point of view. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Nikkii Kirchhoff | 2/13/2014

" Took a while to get into it but once I did I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Naomi Bayer | 2/6/2014

" First I did some binge watching of season one and then read the book. Thoroughly enjoyable, but since I had just seen the series it followed the book so closely, was a touch repetitive. Now on to season two! "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Michael | 2/3/2014

" This is normally not my kind of book but I could not put it down. Amazing story. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Bianca Steyn | 1/18/2014

" Well written and grabs your attention from the first page. Gave t the rating that I did because it was too violent and gory to my taste. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Chloe Corrigan | 1/13/2014

" Sublime, currently on A Clash of Kings. The television show is a wonderful supplement to the books. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Daniel Shanks | 1/13/2014

" Great book, glad to be done with it though. I had seen the first season on the show, so I was familiar with the plot, exited to be on to the second one. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Disneygirl | 1/4/2014

" This is the perfect combination of mystery, thrill and Magic! This author is a fucking genius! He'll have you laughing your ass out one moment and the next you could be shredding tears. You'll love him and you'll hate him. But he'll never disappoint you. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Christian | 12/25/2013

" Excellent novel. Fully of gritty realism and EXCELLENT characterizations. Each individual is fully developed and realized. The motivations for each character and nation make sense. Well-written, well-plotted, well-done. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Meghana Madhusudhan | 11/21/2013

" I love this book. So much more mature and better than Percy Jackson. Even though my buddies r crazy for P.J. I'd recommend this book. A few pages captivate u a lot. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Derek | 11/17/2013

" My first experience with George R. R. Martin and most definitely not the last. His storytelling style in AGoT is unlike any other fantasy prose I've read before. A must read for anyone into fantasy, kings and queens, medieval times, and some magic! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Elizabeth | 11/16/2013

" Martin is in no hurry to tell his tale, but I still enjoyed it. He certainly created his societies, which seem to advance as slowly as the plot. I tried watching the first two episodes created by HBO, and was unimpressed. I may take the next book on, but not sure. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Jenessa Tanner | 8/19/2013

" The first season is almost the exact same :) "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Colin Taylor | 5/26/2013

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Katherine | 3/17/2013

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Harismita | 10/31/2012

" Pretty amazing. He's writing style is really engrossing, and he manages to tell you about the histories of the characters as well as the land along with the narrative, and without an infodump, which is INCREDIBLY rare. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Rita Thomas | 10/29/2012

" I tried to like it, but nothing ever seems to happen in the whole book. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 George Nakhleh | 10/21/2012

" Great Book! George R. R. Martin created an enormous and expansive world of Hi-Fantasy that grabs you at every page turn. This first book (of possibly 7?) is a must-read for any Sci-Fi/Fantasy fan. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Yish | 5/3/2012

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Fsmart | 6/22/2009
