"I'm a fan of Richard North Patterson. Not only are his books well-written, but they often incorporate ethical challenges faced by his characters. This particular book was beautifully written, had well-developed characters whom I cared about and who intrigued me, and had an elegant plot that came together in the end."

" RNP's books are full of "edge of your seat" political suspense supported by wonderful character development. This is the best place to start to get a sense of his volume of work. "
— Mike, 2/18/2014" one of the best of his books "
— Kathy, 2/4/2014" I really liked this book...it kept me guessing about what really happened. "
— Caroline, 2/2/2014" This is a page-turner court room drama. the main plot as well as the sub plots are captivating. I don't believe the ending would have happened in real life, but a good read. "
— Anne, 1/27/2014" I started this book in March. It started off with a lot of promise. Unfortunately, about 1/3 of the way through I realized I simply didn't like any of the characters so it was hard to care what became of them. At that point Degree of Guilt became my back up book, to be read when nothing better was on my night stand. After a couple months so I started skipping through. I probably read the first third, a few short middle sections and the final 5% so maybe I inadvertently skipped over some great parts that would have drawn me back in, but I don't think so. Time to put it on my did-not-finish shelf. "
— Nancy, 1/27/2014" My first Richard North Patterson. It was an entertaining courtroom drama, well written, and about as good as they come for what it was - that is, a courtroom drama. "
— Aries, 1/21/2014" Richard North Patterson is a great author. This is an exciting courtroom drama! "
— Melissa, 1/16/2014" Meh. This started to feel a bit like the later episodes of E.R. -- anyone who worked in that E.R. should have been catatonic after being subjected to all the trauma of previous seasons. Paget feels this way to me here. "
— Kathleen, 1/13/2014" Very good book. Great character development, like able and realistic. "
— Cathy, 1/10/2014" Love the courtroom drama. The interpersonal relationships are a little over done for my taste. But over all this is a good trilogy series. "
— Phil, 1/4/2014" Good story but seemed too long for the action. "
— Nonie, 12/27/2013" This is my favorite of his books. It's another who-done-it murder mystery and makes for excellent reading on the beach or poolside. Very fast-paced. "
— Scarlett, 12/4/2013" Great read 3rd person Om to follow. Enjoyed. An early court case and acquittal of a woman then lost scope of where this story was going, however over all, the personal relationship of son being raised by a friend and not the real father. "
— Clifford, 12/1/2013" The story was interesting, one character was worthwhile; the writing was absolutely terrible - hack-work. How many times in one book can a rich & famous writer use the phrase, "(s)he narrowed (her) his eyes, as though ...."? "
— Rick, 8/3/2013" This was a readable effort, but really it offered no suprises and if you couldn't figure out what was what in the first few pages, you must not have been paying attention. However Patterson does create believable characters and catch your interests. "
— Paul, 1/13/2013" Good read - kept my attention and interest - plot was a little different than most which I found to be refreshing. "
— Judith, 1/10/2013" A reasonably good read. I sometimes found the characters far fetched, and I'm not quite sure that I bought into the ending ...but entertaining and distracting which is what I look for in a "page turner". "
— Bruce, 10/5/2012" older book, sounded very 90's, materialistic "
— Jane, 5/26/2012" Court room drama about a Lawyer defending his ex wife from murder. "
— Michael, 4/23/2012" Riveting. Could not put the book down for the last 40%. Courtroom drama's not usually my thing, but this was a good one. "
— Eric, 11/24/2011" This was the first book I read by Richard North Patterson and it got me hooked. The story is very engaging, with lots of unexpected twists and turns. The end really surprised me, and totally explained the title. I've read all of his books, and this one is still my favorite. "
— Debbi, 3/6/2011" A good read in terms of not wanting to put it down. He is a very good writer "
— Barb, 2/20/2011" Riveting. Could not put the book down for the last 40%. Courtroom drama's not usually my thing, but this was a good one. "

— Phil, 10/26/2010" Court room drama about a Lawyer defending his ex wife from murder. "
— Michael, 8/13/2010" A great book ! I think they made it into a film too but wouldn't swear to it. "
— Lynda, 4/12/2010" This is a page-turner court room drama. the main plot as well as the sub plots are captivating. I don't believe the ending would have happened in real life, but a good read. "
— Anne, 1/23/2010" The 2nd of the Cristopher Paget series...The woman from the Lasko Tangent and mother of Paget's son is accused of murder and the ensuing trial opens many wounds...okay read only "
— Mark, 11/22/2009" It kept you guessing almost to the end, not whether she killed her adversary, but what was her motivation to kill him. Was she guilty of murder or was it self-defense?
"
— Jim, 10/24/2009" This was a readable effort, but really it offered no suprises and if you couldn't figure out what was what in the first few pages, you must not have been paying attention. However Patterson does create believable characters and catch your interests. "
