This short story was written by Bram Stoker the world famous author of Dracula. It is the story of a two old men who have been friends since childhood. One of the men is a collector of rare and valuable objects. One day while admiring his friend’s collection the less wealthy of the two notices an old dust rag carefully folded and placed in the center of his friend’s display case. A dust rag that is so valuable that it has spent years locked away in a safe. Finally the friend and the collector’s wife confront the man and ask him the secret of the yellow rag.

Author Bram Stoker

Abraham “Bram” Stoker (1847–1912) was an Irish novelist and short-story writer best known for his vampire novel, Dracula. His other works include The Mystery of the Sea, The Jewel of the Seven Stars, The Man, and The Lair of the White Worm.

About the Narrator

James Langton trained as an actor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. An AudioFile Earphones Award winner, he has performed many voice-overs and narrated numerous audiobooks, including the international bestsellers The Brotherhood of the Holy Shroud by Julia Navarro, The Virtues of War by Steven Pressfield, and The Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan. He is also a professional musician who led the internationally renowned Pasadena Roof Orchestra from 1996 to 2002. He was born in York, England, and is now based in New York City.
