"Finally finished reading all the fairy tales. =="I was bored half of the time. Some of the stories are morbid but they end up to be 'happy' endings, so it's weird. :PAnyway, I especially liked 'ASHPUTTEL'. ^^ "

Quotes

  • [There] remains something untameable about these enigmatic stories of cruel parents, brave tailors, cannibalistic witches, enchanted princes and princesses, and big bad wolves...Each tale gets a different narrator, chosen from the starry firmament of the audiobook world...[Roy] Dotrice delivers the only biblically themed tale in the bunch and sounds like the voice of the Lord himself.

    — The New York Times
  • From Jim Dale’s fully voiced reading of ’Rumpelstiltskin’ to Kate Rudd’s formal narration of ’Little Snow-White’ and Dion Graham’s lightly accented rendition of ’The Twelve Huntsmen,’ these are stellar performances. A mixture of short and long tales provides a nice blend of listening experiences with whimsical musical interludes.

" children's audio/grimm fairytales. Though Laura Paton's narration was great, the tales themselves are rather lackluster, and I wouldn't expect this to hold the attention of an actual child (though probably fine for adults who are into these sort of audio tales). "

" I read so many different versions, but I loved the ones where the violence was weeded out - in a Jungian interpretation they just grow, and grow, and grow. "
