Publisher Description
The Dalai Lama, a living symbol of holiness and selfless triumph over tribulation, has shared his philosophy of peace with today's turbulent world. Yet rarely do we hear him speak with such directness as in this collection of quotations drawn from his own writings, teachings, and interviews.
The Path to Tranquilty, a fresh and accessible introduction to his inspirational wisdom, offers words of quidance, compassion, and peace that are as down to earth as they are rich in spirit. It covers almost every aspect of human life, secular and religius -- happiness, intimacy, loneliness, suffering, anger and everyday insecurities -- with endearing informality, warmth, and practicality.

"I followed the directions, and read this book over the course of a whole year. It was absolutely worth it. Both meditational and useful as a devotional, I enjoyed this book very much. I could start each day with a thought to think about as I woke up."

" Daily meditations. I am enjoying this book quite a bit. "
— Brianna, 12/27/2010 -
" Nice compilation, although some of the short selections are not provided with a broader context and can be cryptic to a non-Buddhist. Full of wisdom and kindness, though... "
— David, 11/23/2010 -
" I'm not a Buddhist, but I found these daily kernels of wisdom a good way to start each day, particularly when things were not going so well for me at home or at work. There is one meditation for each day of the year. "
— Sherry, 10/13/2010 -
" Very short readings for every day of the year, with spiritual wisdom for moving through loss, grief, disappointment, and other challenges of life, all in the warm and understanding voice of the Dalai Lama. "
