"When I saw this I immediately thought about the practicum students I was with last semester. I had several young boys and I had really only read books that interested girls. This is something that I would have brought to read to them. They responded to several other truck, robot books."
— Cressalyn (5 out of 5 stars)
Quotes
-
“This book has everything that kids like: robots, heroics, humor, action, a little bit of destruction (inanimate objects only), and even a touch of romance.”
— School Library Journal
Robot Zot! Listener Reviews
-
" Kids really liked this one. Had to stop and talk about what was really happening in the story for them to fully appreciate it, but it was a fun adventure! "
— Suzy, 2/14/2014 -
" Disappointed in this offering, particularly the outdated 'saving the girl' plot point. "
— Pam, 2/1/2014 -
" On a mission to conquer planet Earth, tiny but fearless Robot Zot and his mechanical sidekick leave a path of destruction as they battle kitchen appliances. "
— Paula, 1/26/2014 -
" Very interesting. Not what I expected but still a fun boy book. Great illustrations. "
— Angela, 1/19/2014 -
" Riley helped me read this, lots of 'ot' words for him. Funny. "
— Heather, 1/5/2014 -
" Cute story of a sentient, alien robot that lands on Earth intent on domination, but stumbles across a surburban home instead. Hillarity and destruction ensue. A classic from author Scieszka and illustrator Shannon. "
— Ubalstecha, 12/28/2013 -
" Great pictures, but the text was a little awkward in spots for reading aloud, and it kind of seemed like it was trying too hard to be clever and funny. My kids thought it was really funny (their favorite part was the last page), though it's not a read-this-every-night favorite. "
— Andrea, 12/26/2013 -
" While this is a cute book, I believe that it is better suited for kids 5-8 rather than 0-5. My Storytime kids were unable to pick up on the nuances of this book that make it so entertaining "
— Amy, 12/25/2013 -
" This was our bedtime read tonight. Loved the pictures - struggled with the text. The Queen of all Earth made me laugh as did the last page of the book, poor commander general. "
— Inspired, 11/5/2013 -
" Adorable. Sure to be a story time favorite. "
— Jennifer, 10/30/2013 -
" This book reminded me of the Toy Story movies in several parts, but not in a good way. "
— Amberly, 10/4/2013 -
" What is lacking in good writing in this zany picture book can be made up with expression and voice changes for the reader who is sharing this with a young child or children As long as those things are present this would be a super fun book to share and captivate kiddos. "
— Shelli, 9/26/2013 -
" Three stars because I liked the book. Five stars for my son's laughter as I read the book to him (robot voice required). "
— Tammra, 9/9/2013 -
" I want to read this aloud in a robot voice. Looks like I'll need to do a robot storytime soon. :) "
— Megan, 4/24/2013 -
" non-Print Read for Week 6- This book is accompanied by a CD to listen to as you view the pictures in the book "
— L13_Terry, 2/18/2013 -
" Really fun to read aloud! "
— Molly, 2/12/2013 -
" Silliness that the kiddo really liked. She read this lots of time and I would hear her repeating the words over and over. "
— Stephanie, 1/27/2013 -
" I think the kids will like this. It's not my favorite, but it works. "
— Crystal, 12/19/2012 -
" Excellent illustrations. Humorous plot. Robot themed text was fun to read but some of the vocabulary might be tough or confusing for young children. "
— Randie, 7/6/2012 -
" This animated book is good for animated kids that we will all have in our classroom-especially for the boys! "
— Breana, 7/3/2012 -
" A hit with first grade boys. A nice companion book would be I'm Coming To Get You by Tony Ross. "
— Suzy, 5/22/2012 -
" This is about a robot that comes to earth. It was okay. I feel like we should have liked it more than we did. It was a little confusing. "
— Kirei, 4/22/2012 -
" I love reading in a robot voice! It's so much fun! There are a few good spots for predicting in this book and I love the inferences kids have to make. "
— Jen, 3/15/2012 -
" Cute. Boys especially will get a kick out of this one. "
— Beth, 1/4/2012
