About the Authors

Kenneth Oppel is the author of numerous books for young readers. His award-winning Silverwing trilogy has sold over a million copies worldwide and been adapted as an animated TV series and stage play. Airborn won a Michael L. Printz Honor Book Award and the Canadian Governor General’s Literary Award for children’s literature; its sequel, Skybreaker, was a New York Times bestseller and was named Children’s Novel of the Year by the Times. Born on Canada’s Vancouver Island, he now resides in Toronto with his wife and children.

Aesop (620–560 BC) has been known in history and in legend since the sixth century BC, or earlier, as a gifted Greek storyteller and the author of the world’s best-known collection of fables. There is speculation that he was a Phrygian slave and that he was freed as a result of his wit. Though little is known about his life, his remarkable wisdom regarding human nature, conveyed through his fables, has brought him great renown.

Rick Riordan (he/him), dubbed “storyteller of the gods” by Publishers Weekly, is the author of five New York Times #1 bestselling middle grade series with millions of copies sold throughout the world, including the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, now the basis for a live-action series on Disney+. He is also the publisher of an imprint at Disney Hyperion called Rick Riordan Presents, dedicated to finding other authors of highly entertaining fiction based on world cultures and mythologies. Follow his news at RickRiordan.com.

Neal Shusterman is the New York Times bestselling author of more than thirty award-winning books for children, teens, and adults, including the Unwind dystology, the Skinjacker trilogy, and Challenger Deep, which won the National Book Award. Scythe, the first book in his series Arc of a Scythe, was named a Michael L. Printz Honor Book. He also writes screenplays for motion pictures and television shows. Rebecca Stead has written three novels for children: When You Reach Me, a New York Times bestseller, and winner of the Newbery Medal and the Boston Globe/Horn Book Award for Fiction; Liar & Spy, a New York Times bestseller and New York Times Book Review Notable Book for Children; and First Light, a Junior Library Guild Selection and a New York Public Library Best Book for Teens. She lives in New York City with her family.

D. J. MacHale is the author of the bestselling book series Pendragon: Journal of an Adventure through Time and Space, the spooky Morpheus Road trilogy, and the whimsical picture book The Monster Princess. He is the head writer for Microsoft Game Studios where he helps shape the intellectual property for some the world’s best video game developers. He has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a master’s degree in theoretical chemical physics.

Tom Angleberger is the New York Times bestselling author of the Origami Yoda series, which includes The Strange Case of Origami Yoda and Darth Paper Strikes Back. Some of his other works include Stonewall Hinkleman and the Battle of Bull Run and The Qwikpick Adventure Society. Previously, he worked as a columnist for the Roanoke Times.
