NATIONAL BESTSELLER • Life is tough for “the first serial killer who unabashedly solicits our love” (Entertainment Weekly)—the character that inspired the latest Showtime hit series Dexter: Resurrection.
“Morbidly funny.”—Marilyn Stasio, The New York Times Book Review
It’s not easy being the world’s only serial killer with a conscience, especially when you work for the Miami police. To avoid suspicion, Dexter Morgan’s had to slip deep into his disguise: spending time with his girlfriend and her kids, slowly becoming the world’s first serial killing couch potato.
Then a particularly nasty psychopath starts cutting a trail through Miami—a killer whose twisted techniques leave even Dexter speechless. When his sister Deborah, a tough-as-nails cop, is drawn into the case, it becomes clear that Dexter will have to come out of hiding and hunt the monster down. Unless, of course, the killer finds him first . . .

"I loved this book! I am a big fan of the show and have seen the first three seasons and would love to see the next two and cant wait until the 6th season comes out on showtime. The book, however still good, is a lot different from the show. This is the second book in the Dexter series out of like 6 books with a new one coming out. The only similarity between them is the first season and then in makes up season two and then somewhat follows the second book. Enough about the show and onto the book. I thought this book to be very interesting because its sort of a thriller type book which is really easy to keep me interested. The main character Dexter, is a sociopath who works for the Miami Metro Police Department as a blood spatter analyst, but also since he is a sociopath he kills people. But, what makes him a good guy is the fact that although he has the need to kill people, he only kills bad guys. He is kind of like a hardcore Batman. He also only kills people who have murdered innocent people and he doesn't kill people who have committed crimes where nobody gets killed. It's against his code. So the story is all about him trying to find a killer before he murders a fellow police Sergeant by the name of Doakes. It is very interest and has a kind of cinematic feel where you can picture it as a movie. I highly recommend it!"

Dearly Devoted Dexter is fascinating, entertaining, and brilliant. Let Jeff Lindsay introduce you to the serial killer next door—Dexter (and his Dark Passenger) are the freshest, most terrifying creations you are ever likely to meet . . . and live to tell about.
— New York Times bestselling author Robert CraisPraise for award-winning Darkly Dreaming Dexter:“A dark and devious novel about Dexter Morgan, the serial killer with a heart . . . Lindsay’s tale is daring and unexpectedly comedic. -
It’s [the] human touches, including self-pity, that make Dexter come to life and Lindsay’s book so enjoyable.

" Pure excitement! Gotta love Dexter! "
— Bre, 2/17/2014 -
" I was a little sared when Dexter becomes "accidentally" engaged but the story didn't take the sappy turn I was dreading (sp?). I really enjoy Lindsay's style and will lay off the Dexter series for a little bit. There are only two more left and I want to savor them. Very good action in this one and it was nice to see one of Dexter's enemies disposed of (well, part of him anyway). Could still use a little bit more violence from Dexter himself though "

" I need to be a serial killer... "

" I found this book to be rather good. I am a huge fan of the show and find it refreshing to read the novels that give a different version of Dexter. In the novels he is more witty and sarcastic, giving quick responses that are comical and make you laugh. The "Big Bad" of the novel (in this case) is also completely different than that of any from the TV series. I do recommend this book, however I found that the ending seemed to resolve itself very quickly, which I didn't like. "

" Excellent story to the series...just keep getting better! "

" The story was better than the first book, but I don't like Linday's writing style; he lacks a lot of detail and substance. "
— Terri-Lea, 12/18/2013 -
" I like the humor of these books, but the storyline is a bit thin and unconvincing - but then maybe that's the authors intention? "
— Melissa, 12/4/2013 -
" Somehow didn't like this as much as the first one, but I shall still read all the others. "
— Hil, 11/22/2013 -
" This book was much better than the first. It was definitely much blood and gore as well. I am looking forward to reading the next one. "
— Emily, 11/11/2013 -
" Grisly! I liked this one better than the 1st..trying not to compare to the series...great psychological character studies! "
— Liz, 6/8/2013 -
" My favorite so far of the series. Very demented and detailed. "

" Jeff Lindsay is wicked love him! "

" over the top greusome in parts, but still really good. "
— Alison, 12/7/2012 -
" After watching Season 1 of Dexter, the first book was predictable and dull. This one was slightly better on that front. However, it's an average book. I get the feeling that the writing is just not on par with the concept of Dexter. Stick with the Showtime series. "
— Ricky, 9/4/2012 -
" Interesting character but poorly written book. The TV series is much better. "
— Eclarep, 8/2/2012 -
" Jeff Lindsay is just SICK in this book, but again, what wonderful writing! "
— Charles, 8/1/2012 -
" I love these books and love the TV show, but the book can get deeper into the character. The book is much darker when it comes to his realationship with the Blonde broad he is suppose to marry. "
