"This was one of the darker children's books I have read in awhile. I am a huge fan of Chris Riddell's "Ottoline" series and drawing style, so this had been on my to read list for awhile. You are rewarded with Riddell's fanciful drawings, of which, amazingly, offer up a visual guide to Stewart's original world. Let's just say the peril factor is right up there with the 7th Harry Potter book. Its constant, and at times feels unrelenting. Not the stuff for the faint of heart (of which I obviously am), but definitely a work to hand a fantasy fiction fan. A truly original creation that I will have in my head for awhile."

" It's marketed as a kids' book, but I wouldn't let my kids read it. It is too gross, illustrated by pictures that left little to the imagination icky-ness-wise. It's one thing to read it, another to see it in pictures. Won't be reading the rest of the series. "
