Ed Young (1931–2023) award-winning artist and author, illustrated more than eighty books for children, seventeen of which he also wrote. He won over fifty awards and honors for his work, including the Caldecott Medal, Hans Christian Andersen Award, Boston Globe Hornbook Award, and many more. He was born in Tientsin, China, grew up in Shanghai, and later moved to Hong Kong. As a youth, he came to the United States on a student visa to study architecture but turned instead to his love of art. A graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, he taught at the Pratt Institute, Yale University, Naropa Institute, and the University of California at Santa Cruz. |
