About Avi

Avi is the author of more than fifty books for children and young adults, including the 2003 Newbery Medal winner Crispin: The Cross of Lead. Along with his two Newbery Honors, he has won many other awards for his fiction. He lives with his family in Denver.

Alexandra O’Karma has appeared on regional stages, television, film, Broadway, and off-Broadway. You may have seen her with Tommy Lee Jones in the film Yuri Nosenko, KGB, or on episodes of One Life to Live. She was the Reader in the four-time Emmy winner, Festival of Lessons & Carols and appeared on Broadway in Getting Married.
