THE USA TODAY BESTSELLER ∙ A Hitchcock fanatic with an agenda invites old friends for a weekend stay at his secluded themed hotel in this fiendishly clever, suspenseful novel from the international bestselling author of Darling Rose Gold.
"A clever, sinister fun-house ride."–People
Alfred Smettle is not your average Hitchcock fan. He is the founder, owner, and manager of The Hitchcock Hotel, a sprawling Victorian house in the White Mountains dedicated to the Master of Suspense. There, Alfred offers his guests round-the-clock film screenings, movie props and memorabilia in every room, plus an aviary with fifty crows.
To celebrate the hotel’s first anniversary, he invites his former best friends from his college Film Club for a reunion. He hasn’t spoken to any of them in sixteen years, not after what happened.
But who better than them to appreciate Alfred’s creation? And to help him finish it.
After all, no Hitchcock set is complete without a body.
"Jaw-dropping."–Riley Sager
"Hugely readable and tremendous fun."–Alex Michaelides

"Stephanie Wrobel puts the Master of Suspense’s name right in her title, and The Hitchcock Hotel is redolent of the scares in “The Birds” or “Psycho.” It’s a locked-room mystery in the form of a weekend getaway at the hotel, where each room is designed around one of Hitchcock’s films, resplendent with props and thematic knickknacks. Our host, Alfred (of course), flits from room to room attending to the guests — all old friends from his college film society whom he has invited to this secluded place nestled in the White Mountains in New England. He’s planned everything from round-the-clock screenings of Hitchcock films to an aviary with 50 crows. Wrobel borrows a line from “Psycho” for an epigraph, which is the essence of her novel: “We all go a little mad sometimes.” Wrobel’s excellent debut, Darling Rose Gold, proved that Munchhausen syndrome by proxy still has legs as a horror theme. With The Hitchcock Hotel, she’s delivered a very different book that’s both witty and devious."
