" This second book is every bit as good as the first, maybe even better. We still have the sarcastic and uneasy relationship between the magician Nathaniel/John and djinni Bartimaeus, but we also meet Kitty Jones, a feisty commoner fighting about the magicians' monopoly of power. Where John is manipulative, controlling, self-preserving, distrustful, and power-hungry, Kitty is idealistic, rebellious, impulsive, brave, and honorable. Through a conversation with the djinni, Kitty disables the golem that's terrorizing London and saves John's life. "
— Pamela, 2/17/2014" This was an interesting book, can't wait to read the last one... wonder what will happen next between Nathaniel and Bartimaeus. "
— Helen, 2/9/2014" Another great story in the series. mabey not quite aas good as the first one. "
— Ian, 2/6/2014" Halarious and intreging "
— Ashley, 2/4/2014" These books are so much fun and appeal to that twisted sense of humor we all supress and drags the child in us all out through invocation. "
— Angela, 1/27/2014" As interesting as the book 1! "
— Rudy, 1/23/2014" better than book 1 and good back history on Bartimaeus "
— John, 1/7/2014" the characters develop more and the plot thickens. Still lots of questions remain for Book #3. Interesting how flawed all of the main characters are, but the author helps you understand them in a way that makes you care about them. "
— Carla, 12/12/2013" Hiks' apa yang terjadi dengan Nathaniel??? "
— DahliaNagaDanBukanDahliaPinky, 11/20/2013" I did not like this book as much as I did the last one. I felt that it was very slow moving at times and not as funny as the previous. It was still enjoyable though and I look forward to the next one. "
— Misty, 10/21/2013" lebih bagus dari buku yg nomer 1. tp dibuku ini gue gak simpatik sama nathaneilnya. "
— Yue, 9/20/2013" Hmmm....what can I say... "
— Nenangs, 7/4/2013" As good as the first, but even better in my oppion! The best of the three! "
— Chloe, 5/16/2013" Excellent. I didn't want to put the book down. The author throws in some highly entertaining comments as footnotes from the perspective of Bartimaeus. "
— Chanté, 1/20/2013" LOVED this book. LISTEN to the version on your ipod, it was the bEST! "
— Brooke, 9/6/2012" The second carries on and evolves the first. Simply put (for those who read and enjoy reading light fantasy) this is a fun read. It is a page turner and I am looking forward to the summation in the third book. "
— Ben, 6/9/2012" Good follow up to the first and introduces a little more intrigue with new interesting characters and a mysterious plot. You also learn more about Bartimaeus's past, which is easily the best character in the series. "
— Joyce, 3/10/2012" Absolutely love this series. Bartimaeus is wonderful! "
— Michaelynn, 1/29/2012" the first book is better than this one "
— Iis, 11/21/2011" I read these before and now I'm listening to them. I just love the dry British humor and of course anything that has to do with magic. My kids find these boring and now I see they're recommended for 12-17. Those Brits just have a fabulous vocab.
"
— Anndee, 5/8/2011" Great book,
has some swearing though.......
"
— Will, 5/4/2011" Jonathan Stroud is an amazing author and this is my favorite series of books. I found myself laughing all the way through The Bartamaeus Trilogy. Any fan of fantasy that havn't read Bartamaeus should try it out. "
— Cody, 4/29/2011" A very good sequel to Amulet of Samarkand, a bit slower in parts, but if so, it's all a set up for the intense wrap-up of Ptolemy's Gate. "
— Daniel, 4/27/2011" My kids tell me I am a tough rater--I do like this series and would recommend it to adults--and most kids. "
— Kerry, 4/25/2011" I got bored at the middle part. The author became quite too detailed with his descriptions; and some footnotes weren't really necessary. Nevertheless, the ending was good :). "
— Avarea, 4/17/2011" A bit draggy in places but, still, a fun read. "
— Maxine, 4/17/2011" Grand! I love this author, I love his characters and I can not wait to get the third book! "
