Second in the Darynda Jones' award-winning paranormal series that's "hilarious and heartfelt, sexy and surprising." (J.R. Ward) When Charley Davidson and Cookie (her best friend/receptionist) have to track down a missing woman, the case is not quite as open and shut as they anticipate. A friend of Cookie's named Mimi disappeared five days earlier. This friend then sends Cookie a cryptic message telling them to meet her at a nearby coffee shop. The coffee is brewing, but Mimi's still missing. There is, however, a clue left on the bathroom wall: a woman's name, scribbled by Mimi. Mimi's husband explains that his wife had been acting strange since she found out an old friend of hers from high school had been murdered a couple weeks prior. The same woman Mimi had named in her message. Meanwhile, Reyes Alexander Farrow (otherwise known as the Son of Satan. Yes. Literally) has left his corporeal body and is haunting Charley. He's left his body because he's being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But Reyes can't let that happen. Because if the demons get to Charley, they'll have a portal to heaven. And if they have a portal to heaven…well, let's just say it wouldn't be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Can she keep those she loves out of harm's way? And is there enough coffee and chocolate in the world to fuel her as she does? Here is your signpost for the most hilarious read of the summer: Second Grave On The Left.

"Charley remains an interesting narrator. And Lorelei King's voice and talent wows me with the humor infused to the story as a whole. While I think the Charley and Reyes romance remains to be the strongest draw (at least for me) in regards to this series, I'm starting to like the other "secondary" characters such as UB and Cookie. I'm also starting to get more interested in Charley's sister Gemma. And I'm hoping that their relationship as sisters improve in succeeding books! "

Jones skillfully keeps the normal and the paranormal plots from getting muddled – the listener is always amused but never confused. Lorelei King's narration is ideal for all the characters. Highly recommended for public library collections.
— Library Journal, starred review" This is a fun series about a great reaper who is just a cool girl "
— cas, 6/6/2017" IF, and I mean a big IF; I had a gripe, it would be that I couldn't know how things evolve with Charley and Reyes in one book. Again...the wit, humor & characters that this book consists of just keeps me yearning for more. In book 2 of this series, things get more heated, characters become more familiar, cases become more consistent and heck, everything just comes together. Then again, that's what a great book does! "
— Jeanette, 2/18/2014" Grim reaper and the son of Satan, lots of humor, solving mysteries. What isn't there to love?! "
— Cori, 2/16/2014" Absolutely silly, but really fun to read. I like the world building, with the good and bad blurring the lines a bit. A sassy, smart mouth grim reaper, who is anything but grim is a fun character. "
— Jennifer, 2/6/2014" Loved it! I'm hopelessly hooked on this series. Good thing I took out the second and third from the library at the same time. In my opinion, characters make the story and in these novels the characters rock. The main character is spunky, smart, with just the right amount of heart vs head. The romance isn't all-prevailing and predictable but is well placed and juicy. thanks Ms. Jones! "
— Lisa, 1/27/2014" I was literally laughing out loud while reading this book (my bf thinks i'm crazy). I loved the characters and especially Charley. I love that she's a badass who doesn't really seem like a badass and has a smart comment for EVERYTHING. Loved it! Can't wait 1 week for the next one! "
— Jennifer, 1/24/2014" Another good one. Now onto book three! "
— Kim, 1/19/2014" Loved Loved.. such a fun book.. the writing... the plot... the everything ! (audiobook, excellent read by Lorelei King (great job)) "

— Lindig, 12/20/2013" Just as good as the first one. It's fun and energetic. Gets me at all my girlie parts! lol. Good fast read. "
— Jaime, 12/20/2013" This is a good paranormal romance/mystery series that I recommend for folks who like a sarcastic, stubborn, female character. I've always said that if you like Stephanie Plum books and don't mind the paranormal element, give these a try. "
— Kelli, 12/8/2013" 3.5! I want more Charley and Reyes time! I feel there is isn't enough... "
— Teri, 7/16/2013" loved! the narrator was absolutely perfect! "
— Natalie, 6/11/2013" Not sure why I keep reading this series. Some of it is fun but a dead ringer for Janet Evanovich and Stephanie Plum. "
— Randi, 4/9/2013" Second book in this series was even better than the first. These books make me laugh out loud. Darynda Jones is definitely on my list of favorite Authors. Keep'em comming. "

— Laurah, 1/25/2012" I love the humor the author injects into her story, in the form of main character's monologue.

I'm looking forward to book 3, to find out what Mistress Marigold wants with Charley. "
— Katrina, 11/7/2011" I did not like this one as much as the first in the series. "
