Elizabeth Tyler MacMann, the ambitious First Lady of the United States (and known in the tabloids as “Lady Bethmac”), is on trial for the death of her philandering husband, and the only man who can save her is the boyfriend she jilted in law school—now the most shameless defense attorney in America. No Way to Treat a First Lady is a hilariously warped love story for our time set in the funniest place in America: Washington, DC.

"The first lady is suspected of murdering her philandering husband, The President of the United States. Published in 2002 . . . No mention of a navy blue dress though so it must be based on fictional characters ;-) This is one of those situations that is funny from a distance. The story takes us through the legal proceedings with the appropriately nicknamed defense attorney Boyce "Shameless" Baylor. Sort of a fictional court tv trial of the century scenario. Listened to the audio. Good reader. Several laugh out loud moments. Very entertaining."

" From the author of "Thank You For Smoking" a comical and easy read. "
— Kate, 2/8/2014" Hilarious! Political parody from the very clever and observant author "
— Irina, 1/18/2014" Buckley's First Lady is an over-the-top farce that targets Washington politics, celebrity courtroom dramas, and the media that covers both. While it has its laughs, the plot is so ludicrous, the characters sketched so broadly, and the jokes so obvious, that I found the whole thing more juvenile than funny. If you prefer slapstick humor give it a go, but if your wit runs dry, like mine, steer clear. "
— Stewart, 1/2/2014" Not bad, but "Thank you for not smoking" is better "
— Kate, 12/12/2013" I loved "Thank You for Smoking" (HATED the god-awful movie) so this seemed perfect for a plane ride home. It didn't disappoint. It skewers everyone to the point of parody and yet you end up caring about the characters and rooting for them. Fun read. "
— Tami, 10/10/2013" This is not classic lit; it is totally over-the-top and ridiculous. If you want a light read that will make you laugh, this is it. Buckley's books fall into two camps, so ridiculous it's funny (such as Supreme Courtship, Little Green Men or Thank You for Smoking); or bad (like Florence of Arabia). This is one of the good ones. "
— Debra, 10/10/2013" This was a really funny book. Light-hearted and fast-paced, which was made it a perfect summer read. Take this book to the beach. "
— Jenn, 9/15/2013" ok lah, untuk baca di waktu istirahat atau penghantar tidur "
— Rotelena, 7/22/2013" Somewhat of a page turner. It's political satire, a little bit ridiculous, but still enjoyable. "
— Heidi, 7/18/2013" Very unrealistic, but very funny. "
— Amy, 6/14/2013" Just what I was looking for. Light, witty, compelling without being too intense. "
— Elaine, 2/18/2013" Crazy, witty, unpredictable--Chris Buckley has done it again! "
— Sarah, 1/2/2013" By the author of "thank you for smoking"... fun and funny... I imagined it to be about Hillary... "
— Ladybug, 11/28/2012" Funny look at fictionalized Washington with many striking similarities to current and past presidential indiscretions. He's always an enjoyable author who I think I should try to read more. "
— Marie, 11/28/2012" Funny story...but I figured it out the mystery in the first few chapters. "
— Kazia, 9/13/2012" This is actually pretty good and there's some unexpected twists!! "
— Hillary, 3/5/2012" I thought this was a fun read...very fast and the writing style was easy to follow. "
— Mirah, 2/10/2012" Christopher Buckley's ability to make you love characters who you'd naturally like to hate prevails. While the fictional Trial of the Millennium had viewers glued to their tv sets worldwide, Buckley's rendition is an equally entertaining literary achievement. "
— Melissa, 12/29/2011" Incredibly witty and entertaining all the way through. "
— Heather, 10/16/2011" Entertaining. A chortle every chapter. "
— Brandon, 10/10/2011" I enjoyed the whit and the mystery. "
— Kim, 10/7/2011" Loved it. Nick N. from Thank You For Smoking has a bit role in this political satire. Good stuff and a quick, fun read. "
— Rie_dominique, 6/9/2011" Not his greatest, but a nice light read. "
— Christy, 6/5/2011" First lady charged with murder. Mayhem ensues "
— Dan, 4/27/2011" I didn't laugh quite as much as I have with other books by Christopher Buckley, but still a very enjoyable satire. "
— Jeff, 4/22/2011" The courthouse is right next door to the Dept. of Labor. I don't know if I believe that they could park in the garage. "
— Jen, 1/31/2011" From the author of "Thank You For Smoking" a comical and easy read. "
— Kate, 1/25/2011" Christopher Buckley's ability to make you love characters who you'd naturally like to hate prevails. While the fictional Trial of the Millennium had viewers glued to their tv sets worldwide, Buckley's rendition is an equally entertaining literary achievement. "
— Melissa, 10/25/2010" Irreverent style -- lots of fun. "
