Publisher Description
The author of the #1 New York Times bestselling Stephanie Plum novels offers a red-hot screwball romance.
He was a handsome hell-raiser, a reckless crusader in low-slung jeans—and he was driving Louisa Brannigan crazy! Pete Streeter made terrible coffee, snatched her newspaper, and listened through her walls, but it wasn’t until she got fired from her government job that she was persuaded to join his undercover investigation—and became hopelessly entangled with the sexiest man she’d ever met!
Sneaking around in the shadows was more fun than Louisa ever imagined…especially when the getaway car was a Porsche. Pete never figured on finding a partner in crime who tasted like dessert, but Louisa was all he wanted in a woman—and more. Once he’d taught Louisa to enjoy living on the edge, would she finally feel safe in his love?

"My first Evanovich book, and I enjoyed it immensely. It's a nice, light, silly and quick read that brought a smile to my face. Great for in-between heavier plots and/or dud books. Would have given it 5 stars but it ended too abruptly for me. Would definitely recommend it to others though."

Naughty Neighbor Listener Reviews
-
" Was a cute book, read fast. Not a whole lot of mystery to the supposed mystery, was more of a love story. "
— Anne, 2/20/2014 -
" another quick read from Janet Evanovich. All her earlier stuff is really just a Stephanie Plum novel with different names for the characters. "
— Cathy, 2/16/2014 -
" Very cute story. Not a lot of action. "
— Samantha, 2/6/2014 -
" Just about the only thing I liked was the narrator - I'd listed to pretty much anything C.J. Critt narrates. The characters felt like preliminary versions of Stephanie Plum and Joe Morelli, and the story just wasn't that good. "
— Lianne, 2/1/2014 -
" I felt like there was no story to this. It was more about an attraction than anythign else... "
— Jennifer, 1/30/2014 -
" simplistic story and characters... not a lot of content or mystery... fast quick escapism at its best...... "
— Marti, 1/30/2014 -
" This is a quick read, but a funny, great read. Typical Janet Evanovich, the characters have depth, are funny, interesting and keep you reading. This story has some of other series in the story, but overall it stands on it's own. "
— Mark, 1/29/2014 -
" I like Janet Evanovich books - quick read and silly plot lines. "
— Chandi, 1/22/2014 -
" Pure trash. Of course, I read the whole thing. "
— Suzie, 1/19/2014 -
" It was a good Chick Lit Love Story, but I felt the book could be a little bit meatier. It seemed too short and to be lacking something. "
— Sarah, 11/24/2013 -
" Fun and light romance about a Washington DC senate worker that finally meets her irritating, but very sexy neighbor. "
— Kristin, 11/21/2013 -
" 3.5 stars!! This was a pretty good book!! I really enjoy the Plum books and I'm planning to read more of her earlier books as well!! "
— Jene', 10/24/2013 -
" I love Janey Evanovich - but this book was a bit of a boar. Take it from one who does not like romance novels. THis was a mystery really based in romance. "
— Dawn, 10/24/2013 -
" A fun read with lots of the charm & wit that makes Janet Evanovich one of my favorite authors. "
— Loni, 10/22/2013 -
" The first book I've read in a very long time!! I loved it and I can't wait to read more of Janet Evanovich! "
— Stephanie, 10/7/2013 -
" Cute story. The mystery involving insurance fraud a pig and Congressman was a let a good setup but conclusion was anticlimactic "
— Lyndsay, 10/3/2013 -
" Listened to this book on tape while on a road trip with my mom and sister and we were all crying ugh by about halfway through. Total fantasy fluff and sex. Must be one of her earlier attempts. "
— Peggy, 8/26/2013 -
" A little slow in the beginning, but it eventually picks up and turns out to be a cute story!! "
— Tanya, 8/25/2013 -
" Pretty good, but the ending was lacking. Hilarious overall! Highly recommend it! "
— Kelli, 7/7/2013 -
" Cute story, very quick read. "
— Barbra, 3/14/2013 -
" Lots of sex, not much story. "
— Janet, 2/22/2013 -
" After reading Wife for Hire, this book wasn't terrible. It wasn't good by any means, but it was better than the other one. I only read it because I had nothing else to read on the beach. The idea of this one was ok. "
— Emily, 2/3/2012 -
" Cute, quick read with lots of romance! "
— Theresa, 1/24/2012 -
" This is the first Janet Evanovich book I read other than her Stephanie Plum series. I like her writing style and it was fun to read about different characters. I really enjoyed this quick read. "
— Holly, 1/22/2012 -
" This is a re-issue of one of her "pre-Plum" romances. You can see hints of those characters in this book. Fun, fluffy, light, not very believable scenario, but giggle-worthy. "
— Meg, 12/23/2011 -
" So far this has probably been my least favorite of the "pre-plum" novels. It didn't seem as funny or something. The book was still a quick read and it was an okay story but it was just lacking "something" that her other books have. "
— Linda, 12/19/2011 -
" Not sure if my mind is off or not (probably so, but oh well). This story is seriously about politics and a stolen pig!! "
— Carole, 9/3/2011 -
" I love this book, this feels like it had the time and passion put into it, as opposed to the latest Plum series. Of course, this was originally out before that series. Hence, I think why it's better! I always love Janet's characters! "
— Natalie, 8/11/2011 -
" I really liked this story, but it did leave me wanting more! "
— Mandi, 5/10/2011 -
" One of Janet Evanovich's books before Stephanie Plum series. Well written good characters but as a reader you know where it is heading from the beginning but all in all a nice afternoon read. Wouldn't buy it but it was still entertaining. "
— Melissa, 5/10/2011 -
" Page 29/229

Typical hilarious Janet writing, will probably finish this by nightfall. "
— BJ, 5/7/2011 -
" An easy read. Funny enough. Enjoyable. "
— Allison, 5/7/2011 -
" Janet Evanovich is a good writer. So much so I try to read all of them. "
— Martha, 5/6/2011 -
" This was just too detailed in small stuff and I couldn't get into it. I ended up skimming and finally skipping pages. Not the best! I don't recommend this book. "
— Cindy, 5/1/2011 -
" Read it in bed one morning in just a few hours. definitely entertaining but nit the best I've ever read. A little predictable. But after reading a couple harder to read books, this was a nice change of pace. So easy and entertaining. Didn't love love the characters but it was good enough! "
— Megan, 4/24/2011 -
" Cute, but definitely earlier in feel than the Stephanie Plum books. Quick, light read. "
— Susan, 4/22/2011 -
" Light and funny - no big thing "
— Tamela, 4/11/2011 -
" Fired from her government job, Louisa is persuaded to join Pete's undercover investigation. Sneaking around in the shadows is more fun than she ever imagined, especially when the getaway car is a Porsche. "
— Toni, 3/29/2011 -
" BLAH.

A monumental waste of time, ink and paper. "
— Mindy, 2/17/2011 -
