L. Ron Hubbard (1911–1986), with nineteen New York Times bestsellers and more than 230 million copies of his works in circulation, was among the most acclaimed and widely read authors of the twentieth century. As a leading light of American pulp fiction through the 1930s and 1940s, he was further among the most influential authors of the modern age. Indeed, from Ray Bradbury to Stephen King, there is scarcely a master of imaginative tales who has not paid tribute to him.
Tim Powers is the author of numerous novels, including Last Call, Declare, Three Days to Never, and On Stranger Tides, the inspiration for the blockbuster film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, starring Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz. He has received the Locus, World Fantasy, and Philip K. Dick awards. He lives in San Bernardino, California.

Robert J. Sawyer has written short fiction published in numerous magazines and anthologies and has published eighteen novels. He has won forty-one national and international awards for his fiction, including the 1995 Nebula Award, the 2003 Hugo Award, and the 2006 John W. Campbell Memorial Award.
