"Great second entry into the series - Gregor develops as the caregiver for the entire family, shows his heart and becomes the hero. Super quick reads, these books are fun, fast paced and good family fodder for those of us pre-reading for the kids."

The Underland Chronicles Book Two: Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane Listener Reviews

" I'm reading this series because it's by the author of Hunger Games, and it is engaging and gripping reading. The protagonist's only supposed to be eleven years old, but except for a bit of immature emoting and anger here and there, he could be older. The book's an engaging read for anyone who likes undemanding fantasy, and although it's aimed at upper elementary, it's good enough for adolescents and adults, too. Of course, giant sentient rats, giant but not very bright cockroaches and giant talking bats that bond to their more or less human riders all play their parts in these novels. These good and bad guys are aimed at younger folk, but I enjoy the characterization and conflict, as well. "

" I love this series. Great, great characters, interesting plot twists. I listened to the first two books so far on CD and they're fantastically done! "
— AnnaMarie, 2/17/2014 -
" I really like this serie, but imagination was all in first book. This one is more like, "Ok, i imaginated them and now im using them in a second book" "
— Onur, 2/16/2014 -
" Maybe not quite so good as the first, but still worth reading. It had some interesting plot twists. The end drove me crazy! Make sure you have the 3rd on nearby before you finish it. "
— Tori, 2/15/2014 -
" Great actions and characters. "
— Tanya, 2/12/2014 -
" I liked the first one so much I dashed to the library to pick up #2. Another great adventure in Underland. "
— Raelynn, 2/3/2014 -
" If half stars were available I would actually rate this a 3.5. I find the Underland Chronicles interesting and enjoy Gregor's adventures. This book was good, even though I had a few issues with the characters. I felt 50 percent of the book dwelled on characters emotions and their reaction at the end of the first book. If you look pass the repetitive explainations and emotions, the book was entertaining. Clearly the issues I have with this one was not crucial because I plan on starting the third soon. "

" I think this is a great fantasy read. Love it! They need to make them into movies. "
— Mary, 1/21/2014 -
" The part I am at is when they lose Photos Glow-Glow and Zap,they fight a lot and whine just for food. I liked this book because the bane is a baby! gregor thinks boots is dead. He found out she was not dead. he made it to christmas. :) :3 "
— John, 1/20/2014 -
" We enjoyed reading this second book as much as the first. A few more "scary" parts than the first, but fun, creative humor along the way. "
— Diana, 1/18/2014 -
" The oddest conglomeration of creatures can accomplish great things. The fantasy does seem realistic because some of our favorites die. "
— Diane, 1/6/2014 -
" I'm addicted to Gregor! "
— Tracy, 12/27/2013 -
" This one tracked at about 2 stars for much of the book but started to really catch its stride toward the end and finished fairly strong (relatively, of course). This is still just a mediocre series but, hey, my wife bought the set so I'll probably read the next one eventually. "
— Joe, 12/26/2013 -
" Again this author does such a great job with complex issues. You care about characters that are bats, rats and cockroaches! "

" I enjoyed this book. A quick read, but I kept wanting to know what was going to happen. Plus, as with most series, I enjoyed the characters, especially Boots! "
— Wendy, 5/3/2012 -
" For me, this one was not as good as the first book, but that doesn't mean I did not enjoy it. It was a little bit more predictable, and the hint at future books was much more obvious - which is fine since it is series. "
— Henry, 3/23/2012 -
" After reading the first of this series for my children's lit class, I wanted to find out what happened next. The author did not disappoint me. I have already checked out the third book in the series. "
