The chilling first novel by filmmaker, composer, and graphic novelist Leopoldo Gout, performed by actor Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us; Narcos; Game of Thrones)
“Ghost Radio reminded me of early Stephen King. The story sticks with you long after you’ve finished the final page.” —James Patterson
From the cramped bowels of a dimly lit radio station, Ghost Radio is beamed onto the airwaves. More than a call-in show to tell scary stories about vampires and poltergeists, Ghost Radio is a sanctuary for those sleepless denizens of the night, lost halfway between this world and the next.
Joaquin, the hip, melancholy host, sits deep in a fog of cigarette smoke, fielding calls from believers and detractors alike. He is joined in the booth by his darkly beautiful girlfriend, Alondra, and his engineer, Watts. Soon what began as an underground cult sensation is primed to break out to mainstream audiences. When a huge radio conglomerate offers to syndicate the show and Ghost Radio becomes a national hit with an expanding legion of hardcore fans, neither Joaquin, Alondra, nor Watts is remotely prepared for what is about to happen.
When Joaquin notices a curious and troubling phenomenon, he is inexplicably drawn further and further into the terrifying stories he solicits on the radio. As he slowly loses control over his reality and finds himself unable to distinguish between the real world and the world populated by the nightmares on Ghost Radio, he’s forced to confront his past and his own mortality in order to repair the crumbling wall between the living and the dead.

"this book has some of the tone of other Ghostly stories. It is compared to Stephen King, however, I did not find it as phsychologically scary as most King novels. The story jumps back and forth from one character to another - similar to the way some tv stories are told. The premise that radio waves can "cross over" to the spirit world was interesting. I liked the way the characters were developed, but would have preferred a different presentation for the story. A good read."

“Ghost Radio reminded me of early Stephen King. The story sticks with you long after you’ve finished the final page.”
— James Patterson“In this chilling and original tale, a paranormal-themed call-in radio show, hosted by a couple of melancholic lovers, inadvertently wakes the dead and creates a battle for the souls of the living. The concept is so creepy that listening to this audiobook serves the story that much more, as listeners will feel they’re hearing an actual broadcast. Narrator Pedro Pascal delivers an eerie reading that creates a dark and brooding atmosphere...The thrills and chills are legitimate, and Pascal manages to increase the tension as the story unfolds, leading to a taut climax.”
— AudioFile“A deliciously creepy yarn about the connections and friendships that transcend death...Gout’s deft fusion of radio-show culture and paranormal occurrences produces a winning compound.”
— Booklist“A thrilling literary...experience, this contemporary ghost story set in Mexico is a fast-moving and enjoyable read.”
— Library Journal“A first novel that reads with deserved confidence into Stephen King territory.”
— Kirkus Reviews" Gout is a graphic novelist, even without pictures. "
— Steven, 2/19/2014" I liked the author's writing style and found it reminiscent of early Stephen King. The book hooked me early on and kept me engaged right to the end. I would definitely read more from Leopoldo Gout. "
— Janet, 2/13/2014" I started off enjoying this twisted horror (almost goth) story of Joaquin and how he came to be a late night radio show host. I quickly felt, however, especially in the middle of the story, that Mr. Gout was "trying to hard" to emulate Stephen King in his genre. And it IS his genre....no one can do it as well. By the end I was just confused. I did like the characters and the beginning plot, but the end just made no sense whatsoever. Everything up until that point could have been in his head, imagination, whatever, but somewhere along the way the thread of a cohesive story became unraveled. "
— Denise, 1/14/2014" I liked the idea of this book and found many of the mini-stories within the larger story very eerie, but the overall book didn't end up being especially engaging. "
— Katie, 1/13/2014" Interesting book, but wasnt want i thought it be like. "
— Shockwave, 1/2/2014" This was one creepy little story--full late night atmosphere. "
— Cathy, 8/9/2013" I really was into this book at first...then I got towards the end and got really confused. Maybe it was because I had pregnancy brain. "
— Erica, 7/2/2013" I didn't care for this book at all. I only gave it a two because I did want to find out how it ended. "
— Jennifer, 9/22/2012" Book was okay but the middle is hard to get through as it becomes a bit confusing. "
— Theanonymousafro, 4/18/2012" I came across this book at the library and was excited by the description of it being like Stephen King with a contemporary twist. The concept was compelling, and the writing got me through the book. However, I thought the story kind of fizzled. It was entertaining, but not a classic. "
— Doug, 12/12/2011" I really enjoyed myself, but I can't say I got the ending. Oh well. "
— Amy, 11/4/2011" I picked this book for my book club---hopefully, I won't get kicked out! All of the members enjoy a good ghost story, but this one fell flat. It started out eerily, but fizzled out in the middle. It got very confusing, so much so that I didn't completely understand the ending. "
— Alice, 10/16/2011" Gout is a graphic novelist and this is his first novel. This might account for the pacing. The story would lend itself well to a graphic novel formant. However, it was a fun, eerie and engaging story. "
— Todd, 8/27/2011" Picked this up at ALA and just finished it. Pretty good read although the writing left a little to be desired in places. Good story. "
— Riderreader, 7/8/2011" Hard to follow, jumping around from past to present and then the weird dream sequences, was the entire thing imagined? "
— David, 5/13/2011" Gout is a graphic novelist, even without pictures. "

— Amy, 12/12/2010" I thought that it had big words in it "
— Cristian, 10/15/2010" This book was... wonderfully convoluted, like a walk into madness. It might be confusing for some to follow and I don't understand why the term psychic vampire kept getting brought up, but quite enjoyable read. "
— Lux, 8/13/2010" Book was okay but the middle is hard to get through as it becomes a bit confusing. "
— Theanonymousafro, 7/13/2010" Entertaining read with some scary parts-reminds me of Stephen King.Received this in a swap on Goodreads. "
— Linda, 5/21/2010" I didn't care for this book at all. I only gave it a two because I did want to find out how it ended. "
— Jennifer, 5/9/2010" It was so bad that I am not wasting anymore time reading Ghost Radio. I gave it half of the book and it wasn't getting any better. If he can get published, then I shouldn't have a hard time getting published myself.
I am really sorry I wasted as much time as I did on it.
"
— Connie, 4/19/2010" This was okay, the story line had potential, but then the author started skipping from character to character, and the book lost it's momentum. After finishing it, I'm thinking how did that book really end? "
— Kimi, 3/20/2010" Gout is a graphic novelist and this is his first novel. This might account for the pacing. The story would lend itself well to a graphic novel formant. However, it was a fun, eerie and engaging story. "
— Todd, 3/6/2010" This is Gout's first novel and while it is a little uneven it is creepy good fun. It has a nice surreal edge to it. The uneveness may be due to the author being a graphic novelist. The pacing seems to be suggestive of that style.

"
— T, 3/5/2010" I really was into this book at first...then I got towards the end and got really confused. Maybe it was because I had pregnancy brain. "
