Publisher Description

A young reader chapter book retelling of Don Quixote, part of the bestselling Classic Starts® series that has sold more than 8 million copies!

Don Quixote is a knight-errant determined to keep the spirit of chivalry alive in 17th-century Spain. Accompanied by his sidekick, Sancho Panza, Don Quixote conjures up a love interest, meddles with other people’s lives, and fights with “evil giants” that are in fact just windmills. How much of Don Quixote’s adventures are real? Has he lost his mind . . . or is he the only lucid one in an excessively cynical world?

The Classic Starts® series has sold more than 8 million copies since it launched in 2004. These kid-friendly editions are the perfect way to introduce beloved stories to the next generation. Each book includes discussion questions by Arthur Pober, EdD.

About Miguel de Cervantes

Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (1547–1616), novelist, playwright, and poet, was born in Spain of an ancient but impoverished family. After studying in Madrid, he became a soldier and was wounded in battle. He was taken by pirates in 1575, put in prison at Algiers, and was ransomed five years later. He spent the remainder of his life struggling to earn a livelihood from literature and humble government employment. His first attempt at fiction was a pastoral novel, La Galatea (1585), which was followed by his masterpiece, The Adventures of Don Quixote de la Mancha (1605).
