"The ending of this book is far too abrupt considering the colossal build up throughout it. Nothing is told of what happens to the King and Queen nor what actually happened to Harken, whether he is deceased or not. I am also now confused by the rules governing the Endowed as Manfred Bloor manages to acquire Fire-Bringing either in addition to or in place of his Hypnotism Endowment. That being said, the rest of the story was quite compelling if a little rushed. I am now utterly convinced that Tancred and Lysander are a gay couple as they even shared a chair at one point."

Charlie Bone and the Hidden King Listener Reviews

" best book in the entire series! i love it when uncle paton says that his father is mr. pilgrim. i never noticed, but once i knew, i thought it was king of obvious. i also love it when they circle around the tree! asa rocks! but i had to read this three times to really get the concept. "

" I'm not so sure about this one it seemed like an ender but the saga drags on. I liked it though because it finally unites him with his dad. A character I want to learn more about. "
— Luther, 2/5/2014 -
" i like this series a whole lot. this one charlie is mainly trying to find his forgotten father. so it's like a mystery book and i was right in guessing who it was. it was one of the piano teachers who had been hypnotized forgetting who he was. "
— Alex, 2/1/2014 -
" Another very good book in the Children of the Red King Seris. In this book Charlie faces his most dangerous power yet and gets a step closer to finding who is father is. The beginning of the book drags you in straight away. With action in every chapter and a very suspenseful ending this book is a must read. I liked how Jenny Nimmo gives different perspectives of all the characters. After reading the four previous books in this seris I would highly reccomend this one as well. People that love action should definetely read this book. "

" I read these with my kids. They loved them--I thought they were good; maybe a little bit too Harry-Potterish, but not as good. They were simpler than Harry Potter. "
— Analisa, 1/8/2014 -
" I think I enjoy these as audio books more than I would enjoy reading them. Simon Russell Beale is one of our favorite readers. "
— Mychael-Ann, 1/3/2014 -
" Awesome! I highly recommend it! "
— Averysimone, 1/2/2014 -

" I thought this book was really good . I love this series I never want to stop reading it.Charlie finds his dad you has been hypnotized for 10 years and finally comes back to his senses and Charlie saved him just in time because Lyell(the names of Charlie's father)was almost dead "
— Jayda, 11/21/2013 -
" Huh. Charlie's father's identity really *was* that obvious. "
— Aly, 11/20/2013 -
" Not a very good series in general. Wanna-be Harry Potter, not written nearly as good. Would be good for Pre-Potter readers. "
— Tim, 11/2/2013 -
" Charlie Bone is one of my absolute favorite series. It always has a good mystery in it, and it's suspenseful. A definite must read. "
— Jason, 10/18/2013 -
" Good enough but Harry Potter is a lot better. "
— Amber, 10/18/2013 -
" Love this fantasy series. Like Harry Potter, each of the kids has a special magical talent and a strange family. Have requested the next ones and think a new one is due in the fall. "
— Nance, 10/15/2013 -
" Jenny Nimmo continues on par through the series. But admittedly, there are definitely some loose threads left at the end which the reader is clearly uncertain about. Perhaps the next book will help to resolve some of them, but I got the impression that may not be the case. "
— Cliff, 8/29/2013 -
" Another great addition. Lyell is discovered at last, and things are looking up for the "good" children of the Red King! "
— Lauren, 8/26/2013 -
" probably my favorite story in the series so far because, for once, there is a hint of a happy ending for Charlie Bone who is the perpetual underdog. "
— Gheeta, 3/22/2013 -
" The story is compelling and a quick read. So far I've found the series enjoyable and would certainly recommend it to younger readers. "
— Yougo, 3/10/2013 -

" Happily better than the 4th book, ut not as good as the 1st and 2nd book. "
— Doopa5000, 8/21/2012 -
" Not the best of the series but still a fun read. "
— Autosifer, 8/2/2012 -
" Just like Harry Potter (_just_ like Harry Potter), but slightly more coherent, and without all the fun of a pop-culture phenomenon. "
— Dan, 7/27/2012 -
" These just keep getting better and better. I love the little hints at a past for some of the characters, especially Bartholomew and Paton. There's so much that goes on behind the scenes that's never revealed; it gives the imagination a lot to play with. "
— Kailey, 7/14/2012 -
" I like the fact that something I've been wanting to have happen since the first book takes place in this book....but I'm a little disappointed that so little was written about it. The ending left me wanting more than the last sentence or two. "
— Sasha, 6/13/2012 -
" will he ever get past the picture? "

— Honeybee, 5/23/2011 -
" I got this for Josh since he enjoyed reading all the Harry Potter books last year. He is in a sports book phase now so he wasn't into it, but Zach and I read it and liked it. "

" James and I listened to this one together. It reminded us a good bit of Harry Potter, but is different enough to grab our interest as a series. Will definitely look for the sequels. "

" I love the Charlie Bone series. If you loved Harry Potter, you will love this series. It's sort of similar to Harry Potter books but different enough as well. Very well written series. I've read them all twice. The first time I couldn't put them down until I was done. "
