"Three great stories from the "Everything's Eventual" short stories: "Lunch at the Gotham Cafe," "1408," and "In the Deathroom." Stephen King's narration is effective, the stories are all very good - especially "1408." For me, it's one of his scariest short stories ("Grey Matter," "The Mist," and "Survivor Type" are close contenders) and it really comes to life on this audiobook. The audio version here or the text version are both good, take your pick."

“Stephen King does a marvelous job reading his own work. His subtle humor and obvious pleasure in relaying the scary parts to his audience are a thrill to hear…an extra-special addition to any listener's collection of King stories because it can be found only on audio.”
— AudioFile" I really enjoyed Gotham Cafe and 1408, but In the Death Room was just okay for me. Of course, it's after 4 in the morning, so I don't know how alert I am! "

— Ryan, 12/29/2013" Always interesting to hear King books as read by King...two of these short stories are particularly exciting, the other two are a little slower.... "

— Kandice, 11/26/2013" A very boring book.(But it was read by Stephen King himself, so that made it kinda cool). "
— Crystal, 11/11/2013" I've been reading Stephen King since 'Salem's Lot. Most of his works have been quite enjoyable. Alas, this proved to be an exception. It's redeeming quality was that, as an audiobook, the listener has the opportunity to hear the man himself. "
— Laura, 9/14/2013" okay audio of several short stories. Not a big audio fan. "
— Randy, 9/11/2013" A great collection of short stories. Very entertaining. "
— Anthony, 8/21/2013" I really liked these stories. They all had to do with smoking cigarettes. Thought it was pretty clever. "
— Amanda, 7/6/2013" More great stories from the master! What else can I say? :) "

— Pam, 9/16/2012" A nice collection of stories involving addiction. "
— Charles, 8/3/2012" You can't really read this as it's an audio book but I really liked LT'S Theory of Pets. My friend Heather's dog is named Lucy and I call her screw-lucy like the one in this story as she has several loose herself :) "
— Angie, 10/2/2011" 1408 was good, other 2 were... meh. "
— Ryan, 4/14/2011" I really enjoyed Gotham Cafe and 1408, but In the Death Room was just okay for me. Of course, it's after 4 in the morning, so I don't know how alert I am! "
— Kate, 4/9/2011" A great collection of short stories. Very entertaining. "
— Anthony, 1/13/2011" I liked this one a lot. I listened to these short stories (audio CD) three times, at least. They're suspenseful without being too horrific, but if you're an ex-smoker you might want to avoid these - King's descriptions of smoking might make you want to start up again. "
— Peregrine, 12/31/2010" ctual book.
not a dormunder
freddie urban noon became invisible and he's another of westlakes cros who are loveable.
i like when the bad guys get whats coming to them... finally. "

— Charles, 10/14/2010" There was just something spooky about hearing SK's stories as read by him. An extra little oomph that just really sold the already riveting and scary stories. "
— Tonya, 7/26/2010" I really liked these stories. They all had to do with smoking cigarettes. Thought it was pretty clever. "
— Amanda, 5/14/2010" This was a collection of 3 short stories & I only read the 1st one, Lunch at the Gotham Cafe. It was just OK. The next was 1408 & I really have a hard time reading a story after I have seen the movie. It just feels like I am wasting time I ain't got! "

— William, 6/23/2009" I "read" this as much as one can read an audiobook. That said, King's voice is creepy, his stories are creepier, and the combination is damn good. "
— Sara, 2/20/2009" Audiobook..........Pointless stories with none of the usual panache I expect from Stephen King. "
