About Annabelle Hirsch
Annabelle Hirsch, born in 1986, has German and French roots. She studied art history, dramatics, and philosophy in Munich and Paris and works as a cultural journalist for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and various other magazines. She also writes short stories and translates French literature.
About the Narrators
Gillian Anderson is an award-winning film, television, and theater actor and producer, writer, and activist. Her acting credits include the roles of Special Agent Dana Scully in the long-running and critically acclaimed drama series The X-Files, ill-fated socialite Lily Bart in The House of Mirth, and Lady Dedlock in the BBC production of Charles Dickens’ Bleak House. She also plays the role of Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier in Hannibal and is a costar on the television thriller Crisis.
Rebecca Solnit, writer, historian, and activist, is the author of more than twenty books on feminism, western and indigenous history, popular power, social change and insurrection, wandering and walking, hope and disaster. Call Them by Their True Names won the 2018 Kirkus Prize for Nonfiction. River of Shadows: Eadweard Muybridge and the Technological Wild West won the Lannan Literary Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award for criticism. A product of the California public education system from kindergarten to graduate school, she is a columnist at the London Guardian and a regular contributor to Literary Hub.
Jackie Kay was born in Edinburgh. She is a poet, novelist, and writer of short stories and has enjoyed great acclaim for her work for both adults and children. Her novel Trumpet won the Guardian Fiction Prize and is a modern classic. As well as Why Don’t You Stop Talking, she has published another collection of stories, Wish I Was Here, and most recently her memoir, Red Dust Road. She teaches at Newcastle University and lives in Manchester.
Katy Hessel is an art historian, presenter, and curator dedicated to celebrating female artists. She is the founder of @thegreatwomenartists on Instagram and the podcast of the same name.
