Publisher Description

On a cold Christmas Eve in Victorian London, the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge greets the season with a scowl and his famous “Bah! Humbug!” But when a ghostly visitor from his past warns him of a terrible fate, Scrooge is thrust into a haunting night of revelation and redemption. Journey through time and memory in Charles Dickens’ beloved holiday classic — a story filled with ghosts, generosity, and the enduring power of compassion. A Christmas Carol remains one of the most moving and magical tales ever told about the true spirit of Christmas.

Step into the delightful world of Samuel Pickwick and his fellow adventurers — a band of well-meaning gentlemen whose journey across England leads them into a whirlwind of absurd encounters, comical mishaps, and unforgettable characters. Bursting with wit, warmth, and Dickens’ signature humor, The Pickwick Papers is a joyful celebration of friendship, folly, and the charm of everyday life. From bustling inns to sleepy villages, this early masterpiece captures 19th-century England in all its eccentric glory.

Hard Times takes place in the grim industrial city of Coketown, where smoke darkens the skies and logic rules the classroom, Charles Dickens paints a vivid portrait of a world stripped of imagination and empathy.

About Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens (1812–1870) was born in Landport, Portsmouth, England, the second of eight children in a family continually plagued by debt. A legacy brought release from the nightmare of debtors’ prison and child labor and afforded him a few years of formal schooling. He worked as an attorney’s clerk and newspaper reporter until his early writings brought him the amazing success that was to be his for the remainder of his life. He was the most popular English novelist of the Victorian era, and he remains popular, responsible for some of English literature’s most iconic characters.
