Theodore Chaikin “Ted” Sorensen (1928 to 2010) was an American presidential advisor, lawyer, and writer best known as President John F. Kennedys special counsel, strategist, advisor, and legendary speechwriter, helping Kennedy secure the 1960 election. President Kennedy once called him his intellectual blood bank, and President Carter nominated him for director of the CIA—though the nomination was quickly squashed.
