Abbey Curran, born with cerebral palsy, made history as the first person with a disability to win a major beauty pageant when she was crowned Miss Iowa in 2008, after which she competed in Miss USA. She is also the founder of Miss You Can Do It, a pageant for young women with disabilities. Curran has appeared on CBS’ Early Show, the Ellen Degeneres Show, Access Hollywood, CNN Headline News, and Fox and Friends. She graduated from Saint Ambrose University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business communications. She is currently in nursing school.
