Publisher Description

A quiet summer night...a neat suburban house...and another innocent, happy family is shattered -- the latest victims of a grisly series of hideous sacrificial killings that no one understands, and no one can stop. Nobody lives to tell of the unimaginable carnage. Only the blood-stained walls bear witness.

All hope rests on Special Agent Will Graham, who must peer inside the killer's tortured soul to understand his rage, to anticipate and prevent his next vicious crime. Desperate for help, Graham finds himself locked in a deadly alliance with the brilliant Dr. Hannibal Lecter, the infamous mass murderer who Graham put in prison years ago. As the imprisoned Lecter tightens the reins of revenge, Graham's feverish pursuit of the Red Dragon draws him inside the warped mind of a psychopath, into an unforgettable world of demonic ritual and violence, beyond the limits of human terror.

"Great read. I expected to read a little more about Dr. Lecter, but nonetheless, the writing and character building was fantastic. Not for the faint of heart. Some very gruesome scenes. Also, just when you think you know what's going on, something unexpected happens. Not predictable in the least!"

" The first in the series is a bit rough around the edges, but it unexpectedly turned me on to William Blake's series of watercolors. Guess you'll have to read it to see the connection. "

" Another middle school read- The Hannibal Lecter book before "Silence of the Lambs." Killer isn't as good as Buffalo Bill. This does have a scary ending though. "Manhunter" the movie is okay but not true to the book and "Red Dragon" is horrible - AND I had to see it by myself because a friend stood me up and I was reviewing it for school paper. Ugh. "

" I liked this much better the second time around. The first time I read it, I had already seen the movie, and the writing style didn't work for me so well in that situation. But this was an enjoyable piece of mystery/detective fiction. "

" This book was a very good book, but a little dissapointing, only because Hannibal/Hannibal Rising were like perfect and this one just seemed to lack in something. One thing about Red Dragon I did like was the investigative side of it, and how it feels sort of like a dark CSI book. I would advise this book to anyone who likes investigative/detective/thrillers/ "

" An excellent novel by Thomas Harris. To be honest, having seen the movie I expected the role of Dr. Lecter to be much more pronounced and was disappointed in that regard. However, this did not diminish my enjoyment of a well-crafted and tightly-written novel of horror and suspense. "
