Beck puts the events of Washington's life into not only the context of his own time period, but also draws parallels applicable for today. Lest anyone think this is a mere glossy "Hollywoodized" tome, Washington's faults are also analyzed without being justified or dismissed. Of particular interest is the fascinating subplot involving the traitor Benedict Arnold and Washington's role in that.
