Publisher Description

At a party in Manhattan, Maggie Holloway -- one of the fashion world's most successful photographers -- is thrilled to be reunited with her beloved stepmother. A widow now, Nuala Moore is equally delighted to see her long-lost stepdaughter, and invites Maggie to spend a few weeks at her home in Newport, Rhode Island.

But when Maggie arrives, she finds Nuala murdered, apparently by a burglar. Heartbroken, Maggie is stunned to learn she had inherited Nuala's stunning Victorian home...and horrified when she begins to suspect that Nuala's death was not random, but part of a diabolical plot conceived by a twisted mind. When Nuala's dear old friend, Greta Shipley, does suddenly of supoosedly natural causes, Maggie is convinced that there is a link between these two and other recent deaths among the older women of Newport. What she doesn't realize is that she has now become a target for the killer as well, and that each clue she uncovers brings her closer to an unimaginable fate. In her most chillingly suspenseful novel yet, the Queen of Suspense delivers a tale of brilliantly sustained terror, woven with the skill and insight into human nature that have made all of Mary Higgins Clark's books major bestsellers.

"A few slow parts, but so exciting at the end! I was back and forth thinking to myself "he did it, no he did it, oh wait, it's gotta be him, or maybe it's not" I love books that make you think like that. This author has a great talent for twisting the endings of her books. "

" This was my first and only Mary Higgins Clark. I had the identity of the killer figured out halfway through, and the identity of the accomplice at the three quarter mark. And that's saying something, considering I never read mysteries because they strain my limited intellect. I only got this one because I needed an audiobook for my daily commute to the Institute for Applied Idiocy, where I am under observation by a team of scientists. "

" This was an easy read, but I would have liked a deeper main character. She seems too perfect & everyone just loves her before they even meet her. To be honest, I didn't like many of the characters because they are so serious. "

" I got to hear Mary Higgins Clark speak last week and I loved her wit. I have never read any of hers and picked this one up. It is a little creepy, but compelling. I am a wimp when it comes to creepy - so it would be tame for most others. I will read more of hers. "

" Not bad. I thought the romance was contrived, but the mystery was good. I suspected the guilty party, but Clark kept me guessing right up until it was revealed in the story. The story felt more dated than it actually was, which I suspect is due to Clark being an older writer. "

" This is the first of the Mary Higgins Clark books I have read. I like her style, it is similar to Stephenie Meyers. This book is kind of like the game CLUE where you get facts about the characters and try to figure out who the murderer is. An easy read, not scarey, not very exciting, but good. "

About Megan Gallagher

Megan Gallagher wanted to act from the time she was five years old. She later took drama lessons when she was in high school. She moved to New York to attend Juilliard and appeared in the Broadway cast of A Few Good Men where she won two theater awards (Theatre World and Outer Critics Circle Award for outstanding debut) for her Broadway performance in A Few Good Men. After graduating from Juilliard with a bachelor’s degree, she began to work with John Houseman’s Acting Company and soon had screen roles in TV movies and miniseries, but was so discouraged trying to make it in LA that she nearly gave up to go to law school. Then she won the Hill Street Blues role, which developed from a guest star to a regular role.
