" These dazzling sister of mystery come up with another good read. We go back to 1990 (I usually HATE prequels, but this one was fun and informed us about the characters) when Nina is still a legal aid and going to school. Her son's suspected father is killed which starts Nina on her career as a superior mystery solver. "

" Nuthin' special, but good enough to finish. I didn't know this was a pre-quel when I grabbed it at the libe. There's a whole series where the main character is a lawyer. In this one she is still a paralegal. "

" While I liked this book, it was slow and hard to get into... then when it picked up, there was too much info and almost too many threads. I do think it may have been a good intro to the Nina Reilly series by the O'Shaughnessy sisters--we'll see as I head into them. "

" Backstory to an established series, and not very well done. Hey, if I can figure it out early on... And a clunky fight scene at the end. But interesting characters may inspire you to take a look at the other books. "

" I like this series. This is the newest edition to a long list of books about Nine Reilly, a single mom/attorney. Most of the books are set in Lake Tahoe, but this one takes place before she arrives in Tahoe. These are good, no brainer lawyer/mystery novels. Not great literature but an entertaining read. "

" Since it was a prequel, I knew Nina survived. Most of the backstory came from other books so it seems a lazy way to write. "
