" I've had this book for ages as I saw it right after I read Jurassic Park, and saw the blurb on the cover comparing the two. Never got around to reading it until now, and boy, was it a huge disappointment. The comparison to JP is ONLY because of raptors and dinosaurs, the books are not in the same category what so ever, Raptor Red bears a lot more of a resemblance to Call Of The Wild, but sadly nowhere near as well written. Bakker may be a fantastic paleontologist, but a writer he ain't. I found the book boring and repetitive, and while it was educational, it tried too hard by squeezing in as many different species and facts about them as possible. I was determined to finish this book today, on the last day of the year, so I could start fresh on page one of the next book tomorrow. If that wasn't the case I probably would have abandoned it after 50 pages or so, and told myself I'd read the rest later - something I probably never would have... "
