Where the Crawdads Sing book

Enough with all the raving, what is this book about?

The story follows two timelines that slowly intertwine with each other. The first timeline follows the adventures of a young girl named Kya as she grows up in the marsh of North Carolina in 1952. The second timeline tells the story of the murder of Chase Andrews and the investigation behind it. Chase was a local celebrity, and his murder is the biggest mystery in the town. Everyone immediately suspects Kya (also known as “Marsh Girl”). This small town in North Carolina quickly learns that Kya is not what they suspect. She is sensitive and intelligent. She has found beauty in her isolated world in the marsh. As she gets older she begins to yearn to be loved. When two young men from the town become fascinated with Kya quickly her world is turned around.

The two storylines intersect perfectly while keeping you on the edge of your seat. From mystery to romance with some courtroom drama thrown in between readers are in love with the story Delia Owens have created. It’s a heartbreaking story with loss, but is described to be more beautiful than sad at all. You are guaranteed to fall in love with Kya as you are engulfed into this book.

Where the Crawdads Sing has remained on the best selling charts for over a year now. We don’t expect it to go anywhere anytime soon. The awards really speak for themselves. Listen to it here!
