Cozy Up and Chill

Now it’s time for that strange time in between Christmas and NYE – we have it on good authority that no one actually knows what to do with themselves during this gray, cold time, but we all pretend we know what we’re doing anyway. Well, you’re welcome because consider this your formal excuse, delivered from to you, to get cozy, stay in bed and listen to any of these binge-able listens today. Probably with leftover Christmas cookies.

The Silent Patient – Alex Michaelides

We hope you’re wearing your warmest leggings and coziest socks while sipping the hottest tea because this one is going to have you on the couch all day and all night. You’ll gleefully race through the pages to solve this intriguing mystery along with the psychoanalyst in charge of finding the answers to the woman turned murderess who has been dubbed, the “Silent Patient.”

Legends and Lattes – Travis Baldree

All of the fantasy, none of the stress. Meet Viv, an Orc with a dream (and a working knowledge of coffee) as she opens the town’s first cafe. As she gets more accustomed to caffeinated beverages she also opens herself up to encounters with other creatures far different from herself, including those previously considered rivals. Cozy up with your own cuppa and discover a low-stakes world brimming with hot drinks and tales of adventure and friendship. This book is basically a literary cardigan.

The House in the Cerulean Sea – TJ Klune

When a group of 6 magical children just might bring about the end of the world, the magical government decides it needs to get involved. The children are orphans who live in – you guessed it – a house in the Cerulean Sea. But when magical case worker Linus Baker actually encounters said orphanage, and the children themselves, he learns that found family is family, some secrets should be kept, and love can be found in unlikely places.

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches – Sangu Mandanna

First off, you had us at the fact the main character’s name is Mika Moon (swoon, so adorable). Mika is one of the last remaining witches in the UK and is pleasantly surprised to receive a request from 3 young orphan witches (so many orphans) to help them refine their magic. Upon arrival, Mika (also orphaned because, of course) can’t help but feel a special affection for her 3 young charges…and perhaps the handsome, local, grumpy librarian.
