She is the author of Charlotte Brontë: Style in the Novel; Unquiet Soul: A Biography of Charlotte Brontë; Bernard Shaw and the Actresses; The House of Barrymore; and Mrs. Pat: The Life of Mrs. Patrick Campbell. She lives in Lake Mills, Wisconsin.
