Harriet Daimler (1929-2008) is the pseudonym used by Iris Owens for the five erotic novels she contributed to the scandalous Traveller’s Companion series, printed by Maurice Girodas’ Olympia Press in Paris in the 1950s—the infamous press known for first publishing William Burroughs’ Naked Lunch and Nabokov’s “obscene” masterpiece, Lolita. By the end of the decade, Daimler gave up writing erotica, returned to New York, and published two more novels under her real name.
