Publisher Description

A young woman goes missing, and her mother uproots her life to find her daughter. A professional searcher with uncanny empathetic skill works to find the missing and to comfort desperate loved ones left behind. A tortured young man hell-bent on destruction leaves a trail of pain, sorrow and even hope, as he moves through the lives of friends, loved ones, and strangers. You Believers explores the ripple effects of a random crime. It takes you on a journey through hell and back, a journey that offers insight on how we can endure horrible events with faith, strength, and grace. Amidst the darkness there are flickers of hope as characters move from unspeakable horrors, and in the end celebrate the tenacity of the human spirit. Bradley portrays this world with a vision that is at once ruthless and utterly compassionate. Under her hand, it is not just the mystery of the hunt or the heartbreaking search for a woman that keeps us locked within the layers of story; rather, it is the deeper mystery explored here, the search for logic, meaning, and redemption, in the domino force that is human nature.

"I was lucky enough to have the pleasure of attending a book reading by Jane Bradley at the University of Toledo. The book itself was amazing, but the reading was nothing short of powerful. I rushed to the review, late, my mind in my own business, and by the time I left, I was so shaken that I could think of nothing but the story. The words flowed through my head continuously for weeks; the story was unshakable. You Believers did not have the classically popular plot line with unrealistic happy endings; it had the plot of real life. You Believers is a beautiful novel based on a very true story. It is a story about one of the hardest places to be as the family of a victim of violence, but also about inner strength, doing the best you can with each day, and appreciation of the little things. This is a truly amazing read, and I reccomend it to anyone who is looking for a new way to appreciate this world."

" I bought this book after hearing author Jane Bradley read from it at the Meacham's Writers Workshop. I usually don't read the suspense genre, so I wasn't sure if I would like it or not. I didn't turn too many pages before I was hooked! The characters are engaging, and the writing will pull you into this world whether you want to go or not. Excellent read! "

" Had a good story behind it, but wasn't an easy read for me. It jumped around a lot and the end of the chapters never seemed complete. The story would pick up weeks later. "

" Liked it, if you can "like" a book about murders, psychopaths, and other nasty happenings. The story addresses many different people and the way they copy (or don't cope) with the horror of possible (and real) loss. Dark, with rays of hope throughout, if you look for them. "

" This one was also good. It was similar to The Lovely Bones in that it was just very sad to read at times, but I liked it much better. "
